#BelieveintheBx Sisters and Brothers - My name is Michael Blake, and, I am asking that you BELIEVE in me. I'm from Creston and Burnside in The Bronx, NY. I am the son of Jamaican Immigrants. My mother worked for 40 years in manufacturing and my late father was a proud 1199SEIU Janitor. I went to P.S. 79, Junior High School 118 and DeWitt Clinton High School. The Bronx is my home. After college at Northwestern University, I worked for a man who has become a hero and a mentor, President Barack Obama. I learned so much campaigning for then Senator Obama and also during my time serving in the White House. I came home to serve my community as an Assembly Member. I BELIEVE that any girl or boy from The Bronx can do whatever she or he sets their mind to with our community behind them. This is who I am. Michael Blake, son of The Bronx. But, let’s talk about you. You might have been born in The Bronx, maybe you immigrated here, or maybe your parents did. This is your home. You work hard to provide a comfortable life for your family. Maybe it’s not a perfect life, but you BELIEVE in possibilities. Let’s talk about us. We are fiercely proud of our community in The Bronx. We BELIEVE that our children deserve access to the very best education we can provide so a child can go from the Cradle to the Career. We BELIEVE that it’s time to make historic investments in public housing to ensure that every Bronxite can live with dignity and have safe affordable homes, because it should not be easier to get unleaded gas than lead free paint. We BELIEVE that fighting for affordable, accessible quality health care is absolutely necessary, because no one should need to decide between prescription drugs and groceries. We BELIEVE that it’s time to invest in local businesses in The Bronx, especially for those owned by women and Black and Latino owners. We BELIEVE that we should Build Schools Not Jails. These are the values – our shared Bronx values – that I promise you I will bring to Congress. I BELIEVE we love our home just as much as anyone - and, we believe in its highest ideals even if they have yet to be realized by all. I can promise you that I will always look ahead to that future glory. Together, We get up. We do the work. We endure. We stand up for what’s right. This is my promise to you. My name is Michael Blake. I am a son of The Bronx. I am running for Congress, and I humbly ask for your vote on June 23rd. I BELIEVE we can turn Pain into Promise, and that we can do this together. We Believe that your Block won't block your blessing and your zip code won't deny your destiny. I am asking for your vote to become your next Member of Congress. My name is the 5th name on the ballot. If you BELIEVE, vote Michael Blake for Congress. Sincerely, Michael Blake, Candidate for Congress, NY-15 Paid for by Michael Blake for Congress Michael Blake for Congress P.O.
