#BelieveintheBx Sisters and Brothers - Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Today we celebrate both Black freedom and achievement. It’s a moment for reflection, to be sure, on the history of Black people in America. But it is also a time to celebrate Black excellence. We have long BELIEVED in what a future for us could look like. the world takes notice of the murders of Ahmaud Abery, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Rayshawn Brooks and countless others, and the voice of the Black Lives Matter movement becomes louder, we use our power to rise up against police and vigilante violence. We use our power to move forward. We celebrate freedom and we demand that it be applied. We celebrate freedom and we demand Equality. We celebrate freedom and we demand Justice. We celebrate freedom and we demand to just breathe, to just live, to just be. We must turn Pain into Promise. We BELIEVE there is more to come! We BELIEVE we love this country just as much as anyone - and we believe in its highest ideals even if they have yet to be realized by all. This year’s Juneteenth is beyond significant within Black communities across the country. Brothers and Sisters, we must remember: Our blackness is a blessing from God. Our future is coming – and we will RISE to meet it. Michael Blake Paid for by Michael Blake for Congress Michael Blake for Congress P.O.
