#BelieveintheBx Sisters and Brothers - We all have our heroes, and Congressman John Lewis (GA-05) is one of mine. I am incredibly honored and humbled to be endorsed by Congressman John Lewis. He is a hero, an icon, and, a national model for American Greatness. A member of the House of Representatives more than three decades, who I hope to join in Congress representing The Bronx, Congressman Lewis called me, “a young civil rights leader” and, “a unifier who can help move this country forward by taking his convictions and talents to Washington.” Congressman Lewis said, “I proudly endorse Michael Blake for Congress and lend my support to his vision of racial justice and equity in America.” Born the son of sharecroppers in 1940 in segregated Alabama, Congressman Lewis became a leader in the Civil Rights Movement, participating in the Freedom Rides, organizing voter registration drives, and leading hundreds of protestors across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma in 1965. Congressman Lewis is an inspiration to every American, Black, Latino, Asian, Native American or White, young or old, who believes in the God-given potential of all people and their right to live and thrive in the United States of America. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: After the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, we are witnessing a movement that is reminiscent of the 1960s. We must rise to the occasion, just as Congressman Lewis did, and meet the demands of our time with courage and poise. This race is incredibly close, and, I am asking for your help. [If you could, please donate $15 today.]( Our campaign is about inspiration, and, that we BELIEVE in The Bronx. Please help us share our message.
