This year marks the 59th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the Selma to Montgomery March and the signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. [Black Voters Matter logo]( Hi Friend, This year marks the 59th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday, the Selma to Montgomery March, and the signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. In honor of the 59th Anniversary, The Blackest Bus in America is heading to Selma, Alabama to Take the Field with young voters and engage with communities around issues that matter to them such as Medicaid expansion, storm recovery, gun violence, and high utility bills. We’ll be joined by local and national partners for a week of trainings, issue-based discussions, canvassing, and community celebrations.  Join the movement with BVM's [Take the Field]( campaign! We're rallying HBCU students and allies nationwide to amplify their voices for voting rights and social justice. Our mission: to harness the electoral strength of college campuses and inspire year-round advocacy with our 365-engagement model. [This election season, we're championing future leaders with the BVM College Student Summit in Selma, honoring the legacy of Bloody Sunday.]( Participants will dive into the history of voting rights and sharpen their skills to ignite change on their college campuses and surrounding communities! Here's how you can fuel this transformative experience: - $200: Sets a student up with Summit essentials — t-shirts, caps, posters, and more. - $300: Covers a student's meals for the summit - $500: Provides a home away from home with comfortable lodging. - $1000: Offers a full Summit package, covering all expenses for one student. Our aim is to empower 25 students to lead the charge towards greater youth voter turnout in 2024. Your contribution, big or small, can help us continue to spread love and build power in our communities.
