On this tour we  engaged in community outreach, including door-to-door canvassing and participation in local events alongside our partners Best Kept Secret – Stop the Violence, The Center for Common Ground, and Do Gooders. We were also able to participate in Homecoming weekend events for Norfolk State and Hampton University. This tour was pivotal as all 140 legislative seats are up for grabs in Virginia, making voting in this election critical for local communities hoping to move the needle on issues like education, reproductive justice, gun reform, criminal justice reform and more.  Thank you to everyone who joined us on the road in Virginia and we urge all Virginians to get out and vote this election day! Recently, we hosted a local event focused on voter outreach, education, and registration drives, all wrapped up in a joyful celebration to show our deep appreciation for the dedicated GOTV canvassers, phone and text bank volunteers. This event was a salute to the incredible organizations that have stood with us and will continue to join our mission in building power within our communities in Michigan. - In rural Eutaw, Alabama, we partnered with the Marengo Foster Parent Association, and the Mt. Zion Baptist Church for an event focused on increasing access to healthcare for African Americans in Alabama. At the event we were able to offer essential health screenings, COVID-19 vaccines, and testing. This work is crucial given the higher infection rates and mortality faced by African Americans and other minorities, highlighting the need to address healthcare inequalities across the state.   Launching This Year’s Power Progress Campaign We are excited to launch this year's Power Progress campaign in partnership with the Democratizing Philanthropy Project. Join us in raising $40,000 in support of our on the ground programming and grantmaking across the country. As an added bonus, your gift will be matched by the Democratizing Philanthropy Project up to $10,000! Donate today and help us reach our goal!
