Join Us On The Ground in Florida and Alabama Hi Friend, Join Us On The Ground in Florida and Alaba

Join Us On The Ground in Florida and Alabama [Black Voters Matter logo]( Hi Friend, Join Us On The Ground in Florida and Alabama The Florida Homecoming Tour Continues This month, we've been on the move in Florida! We spent the first two weekends of October at HBCUs in the state, engaging with our fellows and connecting with over 300 potential voters, including alumni, faculty, and students. Now, we're gearing up for the next two weekends, focused on engaging voters ahead of the Orlando municipal election. Our partners at Bethune-Cookman University and Change For The Community have been on the ground in Orlando already talking to voters in preparation for the "BVM Orlando BlackOut Day." This event will shine a spotlight on the first weekend of early voting in Orlando and address the shortage of early voting locations in Black communities. Join us on Saturday, Oct. 28th, from 10am to 4pm at the American Legion, 4225 Fairmont St, Orlando, FL 32808. We'll be canvassing, phone banking, and spreading Black Joy in Orlando! Kicking off the Alabama Block is Hot Environmental Justice Tour Join us this weekend for the Alabama Block is Hot Environmental Justice Tour! Our tour will shine a spotlight on environmental challenges affecting Black communities across Alabama. We’ll be having important discussions on clean air, clean water, responsible land management, and climate resilience, with a focus on fair distribution of environmental benefits and burdens. But we're not just talking; we're listening! We're hitting the streets, hosting block parties, holding community roundtables, and sharing stories to understand your concerns and work together on solutions. We're also rolling up our sleeves and teaming up with Black farmers to address the impacts of the Inflation Reductions Act and storm damage repairs. Your concerns are our concerns. Join us and be a part of positive change! [JOIN US ON THE GROUND](   Thank You For Joining Us on The Ground in Kentucky Today marks the end of our four-day Western Kentucky tour, in collaboration with local partners like the Black Leadership Action Coalition of Kentucky, MSU Black Student Council, NAACP college chapters, and the C.G.I. Foundation. During our tour we stopped in Mayfield, Paducah, Murray, Hopkinsville, Lexington, Frankfort, and Louisville. We hosted community town halls and get out the vote activities with students and community members across Western KY. With a crucial November election in Kentucky, the voices of Black Kentuckians are more vital than ever. We need your help to reach voters so they can elect representation that will be able to address pressing issues in their communities like policing, education, economic opportunities and more. Join us in building Black political power in Kentucky through one of our upcoming phone banks with our partners at Black Leadership Action Coalition of Kentucky. [REGISTER NOW](   Black Voters Matter is Making Waves in Mississippi and Texas In Mississippi, our team collaborated with Kinkade Housing to host a get out the vote event in McComb, MS, igniting community empowerment and democratic participation. They also recently embarked on a profound journey, visiting historical civil rights landmarks, including the pivotal Delta area, where crucial voting rights battles unfolded in the 1950s and 1960s. This tour not only allowed for reflection on our nation's history but also served as a platform to confront contemporary challenges. Meanwhile, our Texas team and partners have been actively engaged in community-driven initiatives on the ground. They played a pivotal role in the Great Vote Fest, organized by the Texas Turnout Coalition, where the community was educated on vital issues and the significance of community involvement. Additionally, the presence of the Greater Texarkana Branch of the NAACP Young Adults Committee, P.O.W.E.R, and BSA at the Picnic in the Park exemplified their dedication to community engagement and support for these essential causes.   JusticeAid Raises Nearly $300K for Black Voters Matter Last week, our partners at Justice Aid made a powerful impact, raising nearly $300K for Black Voters Matter during the amazing Tank and the Bangas benefit concert. The event was a captivating showcase of talent that had everyone dancing in the aisles, all in support of voting rights. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Justice Aid for their unwavering commitment and continued support.   Volunteer to Text With BVM! Join us this upcoming Tuesday, October 31st to mobilize voters via text in Kentucky, Louisiana, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, and Ohio for the upcoming November 7th election.
