We're thrilled to announce that our very first "Ballots and Brews" festival is happening this September. [Black Voters Matter logo]( Hi Friend, Mark Your Calendars for an Epic Event Like No Other! We're thrilled to announce that our very first "Ballots and Brews" festival is happening this September. This festival is all about celebrating Black culture and getting our community involved in civic life. From live performances by amazing artists like Baby Tate and Maiya the Don to meaningful discussions that'll make you think to scrumptious food that'll make your taste buds dance and the chance to be part of a movement that's shaping the future of voting, this festival is an event not to miss! Join us on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 11 AM to 8 PM ET at The Legacy Center, located at 3015 R.N. Martin St., East Point GA 30344. [SECURE YOUR SPOT NOW](   Reflecting on Our Journey Across Tennessee We just concluded our Tennessee Bus Tour where we stopped in Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville, leaving a trail of community engagement and positive impact! From invigorating rallies to impactful press conferences, we came together to drive change during the municipal elections and addressed the gun violence epidemic in a special legislative session. We had meaningful conversations, connected with voters, and built community across different cities and towns. Engaging canvassing, informative radio talks, and a lively UT Knoxville event marked the conclusion of our tour. We thank all our partners and everyone who joined us at our events across the state!   Join Us for a Powerful Virtual Teach-In: 'Civil Rights: A Battle Won or Lost?' On August 31 at 6:00 PM ET, we will gather virtually to discuss how the law and U.S. Supreme Court decisions shape our lives. During this upcoming Policy Corner, we'll break it all down and share what these recent decisions mean for Black communities. We'll dive into critical topics, including reproductive rights, affirmative action, and more! Make sure you are following us across our social media channels, so you can join us online for this upcoming education event! [YOUTUBE]( [FACEBOOK]( [TWITTER](   Celebrating April England-Albright’s Recognition as a “Legal Legend” at The 2023 ACS Georgia Awards Congratulations to April England-Albright, our exceptional Legal Director and Chief of Staff at Black Voters Matter Fund, for being recognized at the 2023 American Constitution Society Georgia Awards as a Legal Legend! BVM is hosting our first ever Ballots and Brews Festival on Saturday, September 16th! This “party with a purpose” will celebrate Black joy and highlight Black-owned restaurants, breweries, and distilleries, all while encouraging people to stay involved in the political process. We need a team of volunteers to help make the festival a powerful experience for all. [SIGN UP NOW](   Celebrating Black Philanthropy Month August is Black Philanthropy Month. Inspired by the late scholar-activist bell hooks’ [writings on love]( as a necessary foundation for social change, this year’s theme - Love in Action - reconnects with the Greek root of the word “philanthropy” which means “to love humankind” and celebrates the power of self-love and community love to affect real lasting change. As a BVM supporter, your donation helps us to spread love through power-building, education, and engagement. Donate today to help us continue to celebrate the power of Black Philanthropy. [DONATE TODAY]( JOIN THE MOVEMENT [Support voter engagement and capacity-building through our 501c3]( [Support voter mobilization and political advocacy through our 501c4]( [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Instagram]( [Tumblr]( [Black Voters Matter logo]( Black Voters Matter Fund is dedicated to expanding Black voter engagement and increasing progressive power through movement-building and engagement.
