In the aftermath of the Montgomery Brawl, we have come together to stand against injustice [Black Voters Matter logo]( Hi Friend, Using Our Voices For Justice At The Polls in Montgomery In the aftermath of the [Montgomery Brawl](, we have come together to stand against injustice. Now, it’s time to use this momentum to shape our future at the polls. Every vote ignites change, and together, we'll build a future reflecting our values. Montgomery, Alabama your participation is vital. Let's turn our collective stance into positive transformation. Join us in making your voice count as we gather on August 22nd to make a difference in the upcoming local election. Check your voter status below to make sure you can cast your ballot in this crucial moment for your community. [CHECK YOUR VOTER STATUS](   Supporting Our Communities in Flint, Michigan Black Voters Matter, F.A.I.R Voting Alliance, GRAE, and the North Flint Neighborhood Action Council joined forces last week in Flint, Michigan for a warrant clinic. During this clinic we were able to clear outstanding warrants offering vital assistance for residents. Local judges, clerks, and a Secretary of State representative ensured a supportive environment for attendees seeking help with identification challenges. We express heartfelt gratitude to all who attended and contributed. Your presence and support created a meaningful impact in our community.   Mobilizing Voters Across Louisiana Over the past few weeks, the Blackest Bus in America has been on the road in Louisiana mobilizing our community for the upcoming 2023 Gubernatorial & Legislative Elections. At 10 stops across the state, we educated participants on the importance of casting their ballot to make progress on issues ranging from environmental injustice to gun violence to educational inequalities, and more. It is clear that our communities are ready and empowered to use their voices and cast their ballots in this upcoming election on October 14th!   Help Us Get Our Children Out of Angola Right now, countless young individuals are trapped in nightmarish conditions at Angola, a former death row unit in an adult prison and former plantation for enslaved Africans in Louisiana. We are working with our partner, [Families and Friends of Louisiana's Incarcerated Children](, who has been at the forefront of this movement, tirelessly advocating for the immediate release of these children who continue to suffer in harsh conditions like heat and isolation which [some experts say]( could cause serious and irreversible harm. Join us in standing up for justice by signing this petition for change. Together, we possess the power to shape a better future for these children. [SIGN THE PETITION NOW](   Volunteer With BVM! Join us tomorrow, August 17th, at 6pm ET for our next virtual event in the “My Mic Sounds Nice” postcard series. In celebration of Black August, we will honor the Black activist who sacrificed for our freedom, talk about criminal justice reform, and write messages to encourage Louisiana residents to pick up the mic, use their voice, and cast their ballots. Sign up to join us below! [SIGN UP](   Celebrating Black Philanthropy Month Through Love in Action We’re celebrating Black Philanthropy Month with our new national campaign, Love in Action. This month, we are showcasing how we can enact social change through the power of Black self-love and how it can be the force behind sustainable racial, economic, and social justice.
