We want to take this opportunity to highlight some of our biggest supporters. [Black Voters Matter logo]( Hi Friend, April is Global Volunteer Month! We want to take this opportunity to highlight some of our biggest supporters. Our volunteers continuously dedicate their time and energy to ensuring our communities are heard and are moving forward. Stay tuned each week this month to learn more about our volunteers and ways you can get involved too! Check out our first highlights below. Vicki Ross Norris Hear from Ms. Vicki about why she volunteers with BVM: “I volunteer because volunteering is my civic duty to myself and my fellow citizens. Volunteering with Black Voters Matter is my duty to do the work necessary to ensure the constitutional right that all Americans have the right to vote because if the right to vote is taken away from Black Americans the right to vote can and will be taken away from all Americans, which threatens the democratic foundation on which our nation stands.” Malachi Atkinson Hailing from Pennsylvania, Malachi is a dynamic graphic designer who took the initiative to volunteer for BVM's 2022 postcard party campaign during the midterms. Not only did he participate, but he also captivated the audience as a guest speaker at Pennsylvania's postcard party, discussing pressing issues faced by his community. Check out the below video from Malachi Atkinson to learn more about why he volunteers with BVM ⬇️   Help Us Get Water to Black Mississipian’s Now! [You can make a difference - Donate Now!]( [DONATE NOW](   Black Voters Matter Mobilize Students Around Attacks on Democracy and Education in Houston During HBCU All-Star Weekend Last weekend, we mobilized college and high school students on voting issues in Houston amid the HBCU All-Star Game, as part of our “Take the Field” initiative – to shed light on the Texas Education Agency ‘s decision to takeover the Houston Independent School District and a turbulent state legislative session.  [“Take the Field”]( is designed to inspire, train and engage Black students on issues that matter to them. We teamed up with our national partner Transformative Justice Coalition to host social justice and voting rights panel discussions as well as student engagement and training events.  We also organized a day of service with HBCU players, where we partnered with HOOPBUS, who supported our community engagement efforts by distributing over 200 basketballs to local youth at a local affordable housing development. The next day, we invited the local youth to join us for a civic engagement training. Through this training, the local youth learned strategies and tactics to protect their schools and ensure quality education for all.   Speak Up for Your Community: BVM Day at the Capitol—Alabama Join us for BVM Day at the Capitol in Alabama!
