Last year, we saw groundbreaking voter turnout for young voters. In the midterm elections [Black Voters Matter logo]( Hi Friend, Last year, we saw groundbreaking voter turnout for young voters. In the midterm elections, [27% of voters between the ages of 18 and 29 casted a ballot,]( making it the second highest voter turnout in an election among voters under 30 in at least the past three decades.  Here at Black Voters Matter, we are incredibly proud of the commitment of young people to stand up for what they believe in and the overall impact that we had on those strong young voter turnout results. Throughout our “We Won’t Black Down” GOTV campaign, mobilizing young voters was a key priority.  Over the course of our campaign, we visited more than 30 college campuses— the majority Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the South— to talk to students about the issues that mattered most to them and to make sure they were registered to vote and felt prepared to get to the polls and cast their ballots.  From the Bayou Classic in Louisiana to our Black Youth Renaissance Tour in Georgia, our fleet of the Blackest Buses in America was on the ground so that our team of national and local advocates could spend significant time and energy planning and executing meaningful events across the country that were specifically targeted towards engaging young voters. And this effort paid off big time— stopping the expected Red Wave. As 2023 gets underway, we know that our work does not stop here. BVM is gearing up for another year of community engagement, coalition-building and city-to-city bus tours because we know that the fight for equity and justice requires a 365 day strategy. And young people play a critical role in the future of this movement and the future of our democracy.  In the recent midterm election, youth voters showed up and showed out, leading to historic victories across the states we support. BVM is committed to building our leaders of tomorrow by ensuring that they know the way to have a seat at the table is by continuing to participate in the process.  [Help us invigorate our youth to stay active, motivated and most importantly to become registered voters! Working with grassroots organizations, specifically in key states in the South, BVMF seeks to increase voter registration and turnout, advocate for policies to expand voting rights/access, and help develop infrastructure where little or none exists to support a power-building movement that keeps Black voters and their issues at the forefront of our election process.
