The midterm elections are just around the corner, here’s what we are doing to mobilize our communities ahead of November… [Black Voters Matter logo]( The Midterm elections are just around the corner Friend, here’s what we are doing to mobilize our communities ahead of November… Did you know? November is just 101 days away! And as we approach these critical midterm elections, it is more important than ever that we make a plan to vote and mobilize our communities.  We won’t mince words: legislators are working to chip away at our rights - from our ability to vote to our ability to make reproductive decisions, and this upcoming election will be our opportunity to maintain our power! Getting out to vote en masse is the best way to guarantee that those who represent us have the interests of OUR people and communities in mind.  To learn more about how you can make a plan to vote in November, check out our voter toolbox that has resources on registration, requesting a ballot, and more. [CHECK OUT THE VOTER TOOLBOX](   Not only are we mobilizing our communities to take action in this upcoming election, we are also mobilizing our politicians and candidates to commit to the fight for voting rights. Our communities have made it clear that we need action on voting rights now! It is time for our politicians to stand up and meet the needs of their constituents. We launched our voting rights letter writing campaign to tell our politicians we need immediate action on voting rights.  Take action with us now: tell your elected officials to sign our #VotingRightsContract which would signal their commitment to passing federal legislation to protect the vote!  Click the link below to visit our letter writing campaign and to easily send a letter encouraging them to sign-on to the contract. [SEND A LETTER NOW](   Join us this summer as we teach truth to power! This summer we are partnering with the African American Policy Forum for their Critical Race Theory Summer School. The talk will focus on lessons learned from the Georgia election, coming out of the just-released book, Power Concedes Nothing: How Grassroots Organizing Wins Elections. All three panelists are contributors to the new work. Register to join us for the panel below. [REGISTER NOW](   Help us #FreeBrittanyMartin  Brittany Martin is a local South Carolina activist who was arrested and sentenced to four years in prison. Her crime? Yelling at a police officer during a small protest following the murder of George Floyd during the summer of 2020.  While Martin was acquitted on the charge of participating in a riot, she was found guilty of breach of peace. Martin is currently jailed in South Carolina, and is pregnant.  Help us #FreeBrittanyMartin by taking two actions today:  Add your name to a petition demanding action on her release now. [ADD YOUR NAME]( Share with your Twitter network that you’re supporting free speech and Brittany Martin’s case. [GET THE MESSAGE OUT](   Pairing Love & Power to create action! Black Voters Matter actively regrants half of our annual budget every year, and that is one way we pair Love & Power to create action! In 2021 alone, BVM regranted over 10 million to over 200+ grassroots organizations. This investment gave our partners much-needed resources to fight harder for change in their communities.  [Donate $25 now to the fight for democracy!](    JOIN THE MOVEMENT [Support voter engagement and capacity-building through our 501c3]( [Support voter mobilization and political advocacy through our 501c4]( [Facebook]( [Twitter]( [Instagram]( [Tumblr]( [Black Voters Matter logo]( Black Voters Matter Fund is dedicated to expanding Black voter engagement and increasing progressive power through movement-building and engagement. Working with grassroots organizations, specifically in key states in the South, BVMF seeks to increase voter registration and turnout, advocate for policies to expand voting rights/access, and help develop infrastructure where little or none exists to support a power-building movement that keeps Black voters and their issues at the forefront of our election process.
