We can't let the Senate take recess without addressing our voting rights. , are you ready to join

We can't let the Senate take recess without addressing our voting rights. , are you ready to join us for a week of action? We need the Senate to pass the For the People Act before the August recess and we need the President to use every lever of power and influence at his disposal to get it done. We cannot let the Republican Senators who blocked an investigation into a deadly attack on our Capitol use the same loophole to block legislation that the majority of Americans across the political spectrum have demanded to protect our freedom to vote. At a moment when the US Senate is willing to hold weekend sessions to address infrastructure, [but not to discuss our voting rights]( urgent action is required. That’s why we’re joining forces with the Declaration for American Democracy and other national organizations for a week of action. Join us daily during the #RecessCanWait Week of Action (August 2 - 6) to call on the Senate to deliver the For the People Act, even if that means delaying recess. Recess can wait -- our democracy can’t. [Learn More About the Week of Action]( TOMORROW: Don't Miss Our March to The White House rally in D.C. As part of the Week of Action, we’ll be marching from the National Museum of African American History and Culture to Lafayette Park in front of the White House on Wed, Aug 4 at 9:30 AM ET to call on President Biden to rise to the moment and use his pulpit to protect voting rights in America. [Register For The March]( Support Rep. Cori Bush and Urge Your Senator to Support Renters Now The Senate’s failures don’t end at voting rights - urgent action is required to prevent homelessness in our communities. Thanks to the Senate’s inaction, as of this weekend, millions of Americans are once again at risk of losing their homes. The federal eviction moratorium, which took effect at the start of the pandemic, helped to stave off a national homelessness crisis. But because of a dangerous Supreme Court decision that failed to uphold the moratorium and more stalling in the Senate, countless families now face eviction -- particularly in Black communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. The Senate’s failure to create permanent protections for renters, let alone extend existing protections, is just one of the myriad ways that it continues to disregard Black voters. BVM stands with [Congresswoman Cori Bush]( and others fighting for millions of Americans on the brink of homelessness due to the Senate’s inaction. We need strong economic protections to protect families from the fallout of the pandemic, and we need them now. The Congresswoman and her colleagues continue to call for one of three measures to ensure people can stay safely in their homes. [Learn More]( Can’t Make Our Week of Action Events? Don’t worry - you can take action from your own home! The time is NOW to pick up your phone, call your Senators and DEMAND the Senate pass the For The People Act as a means to protect our voting rights before August recess begins on 8/6! If you’re ready to get engaged in the work to protect our voting rights, call your Senators today (and every day!) to demand they protect our freedom to vote: 888-453-3211.
