The state of Georgia is threatening to put a chokehold on our elections. Learn how you can help stop it. The state of Georgia is threatening to put a chokehold on our elections. Within a matter of weeks, Georgia has begun a backslide toward a twisted electoral system built on suppressing and manipulating Black votes, as Georgia legislators push measures to end automatic voter registration, limit absentee voting, and strengthen discriminatory voter identification laws. These actions aren’t just blatant voter suppression tactics, they represent retribution against Black voting power. In the wake of a historic victory and an unprecedented showing of Black power, lawmakers in Georgia and[at least 42 other states]( are working desperately to ensure Black votes are silenced. That is why Black Voters Matter is teaming up with the [New Georgia Project]( the [Georgia NAACP]( and dozens of other organizations from across the state on a major campaign against this legislation and to ask businesses to use their economic and political power in the state to take a stand with us. This week our organizations will deploy statewide advertisements, launch phone banking campaigns, and drive local community actions at Georgia-based businesses to make our voices heard. Georgia based companies who have donated to lawmakers who are sponsoring voter suppression bills. Black voters will not be silenced, nor unconstitutionally punished for unifying under our right to vote. BVM is ready to join Black communities and rally the love and power that led us to victory. Once again, we are ready to fight for our rights. We will be providing more information on how folks in GA and across the Nation can organize, and hold [corporations accountable](.
