It's About Us! With just two months until the presidential election, it has never been more important that we place the issues affecting Black communities front and center. This week, Black Voters Matter Fund joined dozens of other Black-led organizations at the [Black National Convention]( to develop a policy agenda to address the needs and concerns of Black voters. As we’ve seen this year alone, issues like police brutality, the COVID-19 pandemic, high unemployment, and restricted voting access are having a disproportionate impact on Black people. But thanks to the work of our local and national partners, we are now building a platform to demand the action and policy changes we need -- like [the BREATHE Act]( and other important legislation -- to promote racial justice and protect Black lives. We can’t do it alone. All of us have the power to hold our leaders accountable and create the change we wish to see in this country. But in order to do that, we must use the power of our votes. Now, with the COVID-19 pandemic hanging over the presidential race, that means ensuring that you’re registered and securing your mail-in ballot. Deadlines to request mail-in ballots in most states are quickly approaching. Check with your local Board of Elections or visit [vote.org]( to make sure that you receive your ballot in time. BVM Partners with BET and Key Civil Rights Organizations to #ReclaimYourVote Join Black Voters Matter Fund in partnership with BET to celebrate the inaugural National Black Voter Day on September 18, 2020. As a part of the #ReclaimYourVote campaign, National Black Voter Day serves as a catalyst to energize and galvanize Black voters nationwide ahead of the November election. In the midst of unprecedented times and a turning point in the fight for racial justice, #ReclaimYourVote seeks to guide our community to reclaim our collective power through civic engagement. Programming leading up to National Black Voter Day will include resources on voting registration information, provide guidance on voting rights restoration for eligible voters and engage the candidates on the issues that matter most within our community. It’s time to get our voices heard, get counted and #ReclaimYourVote. For more information, please visit [www.bet.com/reclaim-your-vote](. Seeking: BVMF Volunteers! We’re looking for volunteers to join us in our fight to bring Black power to the polls.
