As the markets start to move higher, traders' risk appetite increases. What are they buying or selling? For that, I like to look at my Dollar Ace scanner. You see, everyone who trades options on the U.S. markets must disclose their trades to the Options Pricing Reporting Authority. In plain English that means whoever places an options trade, whether it's you, me, or Carl Icahn—the information must be made publicly available. My Dollar Ace scanner detects large and unusual option trades in real-time. And while I don’t work at a hedge fund, I get to see a lot of their trades. Today I want to talk to you about some action I saw Friday morning. The trade was in Bilibili (BILI), an online entertainment services company out of China. And unlike the rest of the market, the stock is actually up more than 50% on the year. Here’s what I saw: An options player came in the morning and bought $229,000 worth of May 20 $35 calls. These are deep out-the-money options that are set to expire worthless—unless the stock makes a move up within the next month. But it’s worth noting the company announces earnings on May 11th. I typically don’t trade unusual options activity on earnings stocks because there is too much noise. However, there is a creative way you can play this. For example, one of my favorite strategies is the catalyst runup. That’s when you buy a stock or option ahead of the catalyst and get out before. The idea is simple. As the catalyst approaches more speculators will come in and drive the price higher. The downside is limited because it’s unlikely the stock will drop hard because traders are still waiting for the catalyst news. That said, if you’re looking for a stock that could continue its momentum, look no further than BILI. Now, [I’ve put together a masterclass](on how this all works. People who have taken it are experiencing wildly successful results. After taking the [Dollar Ace Masterclass]( you too will be able to find these hidden opportunities in the market. In fact, you’ll be shocked at how easy it is to make money following it.
