I still can’t believe none of the several Nigerians nominated for this year's Grammy Awards won anything. That was the one thing I wanted to use to console myself as a Nigerian living in Nigeria. There’s still AFCON, but something is telling me the Super Eagles may break my heart too. 😪 Anyway, it’s the month of love, so we decided to interview a couple for this week’s #NairaLife. They’ve been married for three years, but have very different spending habits and money mindsets. It was so worth it.] They didn’t always see eye-to-eye regarding finances, and it led to a breakup. “We didn’t have money conversations the first time. Add that to the fact that Francis moved for NYSC shortly after we started dating; we didn’t have to navigate situations like “Who pays during the date?” or stuff like that. But then, we started dating again, and he’d take me on dates weekly and insist on paying. He’d also buy gifts when he comes to visit me. I thought it was too much and told him so.” Now, they’ve found what works. “We have a joint account, and once we get our salaries, we each send half of it to that account. We use the money in that account to settle our ₦650k/year rent, utility bills, food and other home expenses.
