Because it does. [View this email in your browser]( 22- 02 - 2019 The most interesting things that happened this week. Everything you should look forward to this weekend. CITIZEN ELECTIONS! ELECTIONS!! ELECTIONS!!! After being postponed from its original date by INEC (a few hours before voting was to commence), the general elections will finally be taking place tomorrow, 23rd of February 2019. Even though it may look like picking between the lesser of two evils, we urge everyone to please go out and vote. And most importantly, stay safe. INEC PROMISES TO BE BETTER PREPARED FOR CORPER AD-HOC STAFF After corps members were literally left out in the cold last weekend when elections were postponed, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, the NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations, has assured everyone that all corps members deployed as ad-hoc staff during the elections will properly be taken care of. Can we talk about INEC for a second? They blamed the postponement of the elections and the trash treatment corps members received on "logistics issues," which begs the question: What have they been doing the past FOUR YEARS? Fingers crossed things go well this time. I HAVEN'T RESIGNED OH! - VP Osinbajo, addressing rumours of his resignation probably started by someone who just can't wait for this administration to be over. HER #ArewaMeToo All through last week, men and women from Northern Nigeria shared their heartbreaking stories of sexual assault and abuse on social media while calling out their abusers in the process. In typical human fashion, the reactions that followed were varied, ranging from sympathy and rage to victim shaming. Toketemu [compiled]( a list of 10 important things to learn from this groundbreaking movement. NAIRA LIFE A GUY WHO JUST WANTS TO LIVE HIS BEST LIFE In the third edition of our Naira Life series (where we ask anonymous people to give us a window into their relationship with the Naira), Fu'ad [talks]( to a 26-year old designer who makes N1.3 million a month and manages to balance livin la vida loca with altruism. Want to catch up on the first two editions? Click [here]( for the first and click [here]( for the second. POP WATERSHED Segun just started a weekly series named Watershed where he talks (in delicious detail) about moments that defined Nigerian pop culture and how they brought about a shift in the status quo. The first edition dropped this week, and in it, he answers the question, "What Does It Mean To Be Alté?" using alté poster boy, Odunsi the Engine, as a case study. Click [here]( to read. ZIKOKO UNDERGROUND Presents: BarelyAnyHook The latest episode of Zikoko Underground [features]( rapper and singer, BarelyAnyHook. Astor (self-proclaimed sex expert and mentally stable human) has some tips for the ladies out there on [how to]( shake things up in the bedroom (or anywhere else you like to bump genitals). He assures that your man's life will NEVER be the same after this. It's been a wild ride to the 2019 elections, hasn't it? From Daddy Bubu having the nerve to actually run for a second term to Ambode refusing to stop his speech at a rally even though people were very loudly getting shot and stabbed in the crowd, Boyin put together a list of all the [batshit crazy things]( that have happened on the road to the 2019 elections. Catcalling ain't cute and women are sick of having to explain this In this week's edition of #WomenExplain, Toketemu [explains]( the problematic nature of catcalling and unsolicited toasting in ways men can understand. Is your bank account currently not smiling? Is your bank account on red? Do your monthly bank statement emails end with laughing emojis? Do ATMs laugh at you when you walk by? We have a [solution]( for you. WEEKEND STURVS ELECTIONS! ELECTIONS!! ELECTIONS!!! We know we mentioned this already but please go vote tomorrow. You won't be able to do anything else (because of the restricted movement), so why not make sure the next four years aren't as terrible for the country as the last four by voting. Vote like your future depends on it. Because it does. Click [here]( to find your polling unit. Zanku While You Still Have Feet Our simulation is failing.
