I thought I’d reflect on the year gone by and share with you some of the initiatives we are planning for the coming year. Reinforcing our expertise in grocery: We have always believed that the grocery category requires specialized expertise and a dedicated supply chain. To illustrate, we work with 5000+ farmers to obtain our fresh produce, and have 40+ Collection Centres i.e. places where we aggregate fresh produce from farmers, and where we sort and grade our supplies. Each of our fruits and vegetables come directly from source to you. For example, we get our strawberries from farmers in Mahabaleshwar and kiwis from Arunachal Pradesh. Moreover, our trained agronomists work with farmers every day to improve quality continually. In addition, we have made investments in areas such as storage and last mile delivery to ensure that customers get the highest-quality fresh produce. For instance, we process our leafy and cut vegetables in world-class, dedicated facilities and ship them to you using a custom-built cold chain. We have also introduced an enhanced delivery model (faster delivery of more items) in Delhi-NCR and a few other cities. With customers loving this new enhanced service, I am pleased to announce that we plan to expand it to all cities in 2019. Friendly to the environment: We ship your groceries in re-usable plastic crates. Also, 100% of our fruits and vegetables are packed in either eco-friendly or recyclable material. In Hyderabad and Delhi-NCR, we use electric vehicles for deliveries and plan to significantly expand our usage of these. We already use solar power for a major part of our requirements in Bangalore, Gurgaon, Chennai, and plan to expand this to all other locations soon. bb instant and bb daily: bb instant is a cashless unmanned grocery kiosk which stocks fruits and vegetables, snacks, biscuits and several other items. If you want a quick bite (or even if you’d like the healthy option of cut fruits), bb Instant is your answer :) This was launched in the second half of 2018. If your Apartment complex does not have this path-breaking technology implementation, pls. ask your Apartment Association people to write to us. Likewise, in November 2018, we launched our subscription service, bb daily, in 10 cities. We believe customers will like the freshness and flexibility this offers. For instance, if you want to order the season’s freshest oranges and a loaf of bread along with daily milk, bb daily is an excellent option. We haven’t launched in all apartments yet; in case you’d like us to launch in your apartment, mail us at bbailysupport@bigbasket.com. Our membership programme – launching bb star: bb star is our membership programme. We launched pilots for this in Delhi-NCR, Pune and Hyderabad. The primary intention was to give additional benefits in terms of savings, free deliveries and exciting offers to our customers. I am delighted to announce that on 3rd January, we will be rolling out bb star in all cities. The key benefits of the programme are: - Unlimited free deliveries at an order value of > Rs. 600 - Extra cashbacks on key payment modes including Paytm, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank - Priority delivery slots - Additional discounts on 500+ products The programme is priced at Rs. 299 for 6 months; what’s more, customers get a Rs. 100 cashback for each of the first 3 months after membership, making the membership fee effectively zero. We believe the bb star programme offers great value to our customers, and we hope you’ll join bb star. I’d like to thank you for supporting us.
