This past weekend, an older (and very wise) woman from my church was sharing me that when she grew up there was always dessert served after dinner. She said that, being so accustomed to that, she still finds herself craving dessert after dinner even though she has been eating very healthy and clean for many years. I totally understand. In our house, my kids love to put together their own dessert every evening after they've eaten their dinner. It's pretty fun, because some nights dessert is some silly — but still delicious — concoction from a variety of healthy items they've discovered in the fridge. If you too crave a little something sweet after you've finished your healthy meal, below are two recipe I love when I'm craving a little delicious treat after lunch or dinner. The best part is they are both high in protein and contain no added sugar, so they will not derail you from your weight loss goals in any way. 4-Ingredient Protein Brownies - 3 ripe bananas - 1/2 cup almond butter - 3-4 Tbsp cacao powder - 1 scoop Spring of Life Chocolate Protein Powder Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease a loaf pan with coconut oil. Combine bananas, almond butter, cacao powder, and protein powder in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour the mixture into the greased loaf pan, and bake for 20 minutes, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool before cutting into 9 brownies. Strawberry Banana Popsicles - 1 ripe banana - 1 cup strawberries - 1 scoop Spring of Life Vanilla Protein Powder - 1 cup water Combine all ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth. Pour into 3-6 popsicle molds and freeze. These are great during the summer months! The only protein powder I use at home is Spring of Life Plant-Based Protein Powder. Not only is it delicious, but it does not contain any inflammatory ingredients like many other protein powders on the market today. [Protein without the inflammatory ingredients — Spring of Life Protein Powder »]( For many people, whey and soy protein powders can derail their weight loss efforts, causing them to not see results — or even worse, gain weight — when all they want to do is lose weight. If you've been using a whey- or soy-based protein powder and aren't seeing the weight loss results you desire, I highly encourage you to try a protein powder that is completely plant-based (the protein in Spring of Life's protein powder comes from peas and rice). I've seen people make significant changes in their weight loss efforts with this one tweak alone.
