If you snooze in one of these positions, the answer is likely YES! {NAME}, Can the way you sleep affect how young (or mature) you look? Absolutely it can! In fact, science shows the wrong sleeping position may actually accelerate premature wrinkles, emphasize facial folds, and even lead to visible drooping. (AKA the “slumber sags.”) For instance: If you're a notorious side-sleeper... You should know this position can lead to asymmetrical visible aging… Because it puts immense pressure on one side of your body — leading to more deflated-looking skin around your cheekbones. And worst of all, it can cause "lopsided" fine-lines that typically appear on only ONE side of your face. (In fact, I can usually tell which side my clients sleep on, just by looking at their skin!) And if you're a stomach-sleeper… Unfortunately, this position is even WORSE for visible aging. Not only does sleeping on your stomach make you more prone to full-face wrinkles — especially on the forehead… You may also notice some serious facial swelling when you wake up. See, stomach-sleeping can cause blood to flow directly to your face (often for up to 8 HOURS!)... Which can lead to puffy eyes and cheeks — and even a more bloated-looking neck — first thing in the morning. However, if you prefer to sleep on your back… I have good news! This is called the “supine position, ” and it’s the absolute BEST for prolonging youthful-looking skin. After all, there’s zero pillow-to-skin contact and no downward pressure on your face… Meaning fewer visible fine lines… less “flattened” facial features… and a more youthful appearance in general. (Tip: If puffiness is still an issue for you, go ahead and elevate your head about 20 degrees to help reduce fluid buildup even further.) Now I know switching up your sleeping position cold-turkey is a tall order… So, if you’re a side OR stomach sleeper — I have 2 recommendations: 1. Invest in a 100% silk pillowcase. Unlike cotton or linen, silk has a buttery smooth texture that can help cut down the friction on your skin… And in turn, lead to fewer “sleep wrinkles” and more even-looking skin. (Not to mention, silk pillowcases harbor way less dust, dander, and complexion-dulling bacteria. Talk about a win-win!) 2. Apply your skincare products at least 1 hour before bed. Anytime your skin makes direct contact with your pillow — so do all your favorite skincare solutions. So if you have a tendency to sleep on your side or stomach, your serums, oils, and moisturizers could be transferring straight onto your sheets. That’s why I recommend doing your nightly skincare routine at least 1 hour before bed for optimal absorption and less product waste. :) And if today’s email made you want to become a “supine-sleeper” — and help minimize sleep-related skin agers — here are a few quick tips to help you out: → Get comfy by laying with your arms straight at your sides, or stretched straight about your head (like in a goal post position). → To alleviate any pressure on your spine, prop some pillows under your head, and put a rolled-up towel under your knees. → If you’re worried about rolling over on your side or back in the middle of the night, create a barrier of pillows on either side of you just in case So {NAME} — I hope this cleared up any “beauty sleep” confusion for you… And if there are any other questions you have, hit “reply” and ask away! After all, I love dissecting all your beauty and skincare questions… Plus, hearing from you always puts the biggest smile on my face. :) Your Beverly Hills MD, Dr. John Layke P.S. It’s come to my attention that some of our subscribers aren’t getting our emails! 😨 I talked to our IT guy, and he told me the reason is simple… Some of our emails land in the “junk” or “promotions” folders, instead of people’s main inboxes. (Email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail are notoriously GLITCHY!) The good news is, there are a few EASY ways to make sure this doesn’t happen to you: - Mark this (or any BHMD email) as “Important”. - Add this email address (jlayke@beverlyhills-md.com) to your address book or “safe senders” list. - GMAIL USERS: Go back to your inbox, click on the headline of this email, and drag it onto your “inbox” or “primary” tab (even if it’s already in that folder). - Or simply reply to this email with the words “Got it!” Choose any one of the methods above, OR do all of them if you have an extra few seconds, to be absolutely sure you don't miss our emails. (REMEMBER: We don’t just email you sales, tips, & recipes… we also may need to reach out about your specific order sometimes, and we don’t want those emails to “disappear”!) By the way, this not only helps YOU… it helps OTHER Beverly Hills MD users too. The more people who take the steps listed above, the more it tells email providers to deliver our BHMD newsletters correctly. So take a few moments to do one (or all) of the steps above. It only takes a few seconds, and is a great way to make sure you NEVER miss a deal or urgent communication… not to mention, it helps out your fellow BHMD family members who may have missed this email. :) Thanks for your help!      This email was sent to {EMAIL} by jlayke@beverlyhills-md.com [Edit Profile]( | [Manage Subscriptions]( | [VIP Discounts]( | [Join Text Club]( | [Subscribe](  8391 Beverly Blvd., #471, Los Angeles, CA 90048   [Report Spam](  These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
