Dear {NAME}, I want to tell you about a patient of mine who was unknowingly making a HUGE mistake with her skincare routine â One I never, ever want you to make. Not only can it make the skin around your eyes thinner and more fragile than it already is⦠It can also lead to fine lines, crowâs feet and even undereye-bags. See, this client of mine (Iâll call her Patty to protect her privacy) is lucky to have stellar genes⦠And even though sheâs in her late 50âs, she could easily pass for 40. That said, she recently noticed more fine lines cropping up around her eyes⦠So she did what anyone would do and invested in an eye cream. However, within weeks of her new routine, she booked in for an emergency appointment with me⦠Because for some reason⦠her crowâs feet, fine-lines, and under-eye bags were getting WORSE. So⦠what happened? Well, you might be thinking â she must have been using some low-quality eye cream that irritated her skin. Thatâs the first thing that popped into my head too. Nope! I took a look at the ingredients, and while it wasnât a top-notch eye cream by any means⦠it wasnât bad enough to cause that kind of damage. Then, I had a random thought. I asked Patty, âCould you show me exactly how you apply your eye cream?â So I watched as Patty took a tiny amount of cream on her index finger⦠And started applying it in a brisk circular motion that tugged on the skin. It was clear as day: Patty was doing more than just applying eye cream⦠she was literally stretching out her skin! You see, your skin is like a rubber brand. When itâs young, itâs highly elastic⦠so when it gets stretched out, it snaps right back into place. But as skin gets older and begins to lose its natural springiness⦠It starts to become loose, saggy, creased⦠and just doesnât âsnap backâ the way it used to. So any kind of tugging on the skin is a HUGE no-no. Luckily, there IS a way to combat this âstretchingâ effect â and it starts with applying your products the RIGHT way. Here are the same steps I gave Patty when it comes to effectively applying eye cream:
- Take a dime-sized amount of product on your clean ring finger (this is your âweakestâ finger, so it naturally uses the least amount of pressure). - Dot the product along your under-eye area, as well as your outer corners (where crowâs feet typically pop up). - Using quick patting motions, gently press the product into your skin until itâs fully absorbed. - Complete the rest of your skincare routine. Itâs as simple as that! Now, if youâve been using Pattyâs âtuggingâ application method until now⦠Donât worry, itâs a very common mistake that a lot of my clients make. Thankfully, itâs super easy to correct once youâre aware of it⦠AND when you start applying your eye cream the right way, youâll notice way better results too! Oh, and remember: This âno tuggingâ rule applies to all your other formulas too⦠So whether youâre applying serums, oils, moisturizers, or even spot treatments, be as gentle as you possibly can. Your skin will thank you â I promise! Your Beverly Hills MD, Dr. John Layke P.S. By the way, you should never apply your eye cream directly to your eyelids. This is because the skin on your eyelids is by far the thinnest skin on your entire body⦠So even a minor amount of pulling on this area can cause it to visibly age much faster. Instead, I recommend applying a dot of eye cream directly to your brow bone instead. This way, when you open your eyes the product will naturally transfer to your lids, without having to touch the delicate skin whatsoever. Of course, using the right kind of eye cream can make all the difference in your results, too⦠And it just so happens, weâre offering a killer discount on one of my favorites: Total Recovery Night Eye Cream â [up to 67% off when you use this link.]() Now, Iâm not quite sure how much longer this sale will be open (jars are going fast)... But if you read this in time, and youâve been in the market for a high-quality eye cream â you simply canât do any better than âTotal Recovery.â :)
