It's that time again! I'm answering some of the most frequently asked questions today! Iâve got something fun planned for today: A good olâ fashioned âAsk Dr. Layke Anything.â I have a total blast doing these. Mainly because it gives me the chance to answer your most pressing beauty questions⦠give some fun recommendations... While also dispelling some of the biggest âlook youngerâ myths I get asked about. But we have quite a few to get through, {NAME} â so letâs jump right in. #1. âDo I NEED to take beauty supplements (like Dermal Repair) with a meal?â - Vikki Great question, Vikki. I say YES, and for a couple of reasons: Firstly, starting a new supplement is somewhat changing your body chemistry⦠So a little digestive upset is totally normal. Your body will likely adjust within a couple weeks. Luckily, you can skip the stomach issues altogether by taking your supplement with a meal â when your digestion is already stimulated. Not only does this help the capsule âmoveâ through your digestive system a bit easier⦠it can also help your body absorb the beauty-boosting nutrients even better. Best of all? Establishing a consistent routine is key for lasting results â so taking your dose alongside your meal is an easy way to form a daily habit. (Just avoid taking them with sugar-heavy meals⦠as excess glucose can actually interfere with proper absorption.) #2. âNo matter how much I moisturize my chest, the wrinkles wonât budge. Any recommendations?â - Susan Chest wrinkles are a very stubborn issue to tackle â and moisturizing is a fantastic start. But remember: Itâs not just moisture our skin needs to stay smooth⦠it needs collagen, too⦠And one of the best ways to support collagen is through the magic of exfoliation. The only thing is, using a basic scrub wonât do â especially as you get older. (These are typically waaay to weak to address body wrinkles.) So instead, I recommend giving a chemical exfoliant a try. See, chemical exfoliants typically include some form of acid (which I know can sound daunting)⦠But they donât just slough off a tiny, thin layer of dead skin like a physical scrub. They work to "dissolve" stubborn collagen-stunting surface cells. This reveals visibly smooth, rejuvenated-looking skin AND helps your collagen thrive. Win-win! Any tips? - Liz Obviously Iâm no hair expert, Liz⦠But my good friend, Paul Lindsay, just so happens to be! So, I passed this question onto him. Hereâs a copy of the message I got back:

Humidity sucks ALL the moisture out of your hair. Thatâs what leads to that âbigâ or frizzy look. So the goal is to keep hair as hydrated as possible. Couple ways you can do this: 1) AVOID THE BLOW DRYER. At least, as much as you can. Letting your hair air-dry will ensure you arenât sucking out all its frizz-taming moisture. You donât have to totally ditch your blow dryer, but I advise my clients to let their hair naturally dry this time of year, rather than relying on heat tools. 2) Look for silicone-based products â whether it's a leave-in conditioner, serum, or oil. Silicone provides a protective âocclusive sealâ on the hair cuticle, which will help lock as much moisture into each strand as possible. I recommend applying these to slightly damp hair for best results. #4. âDoes drinking through a straw really give you wrinkles? Or is this an old-wives tale?â - Patty Great question! I actually get this one a lot. Technically, yes. If youâre drinking through a straw every single day, âpuckeringâ could deepen lip-lines. However, what Iâm more concerned with⦠is what youâre drinking through that straw. Soda? Fruit juice? A sweet coffee? If so, your bigger problem is going to be all that sugar⦠Which spikes skin-destroying hormones in your body, and can even break down your collagen. Instead, choose sparkling water with lemon or black coffee with a little agave and oat milk. These low-sugar alternatives will give you a huge advantage in the fight against wrinkles â even if youâre using a straw here and there. #5. "I had a friend growing up whose mother swore by using orange juice + baking soda to âclean outâ your pores. Always sounded bizarre to me, so Iâm curious to hear your take.â - Carol Believe it or not, this is a concoction Iâve heard about before. The idea is, orange juice has acidic properties⦠And when itâs mixed with baking soda, a slight chemical reaction happens â where it begins to fizz and bubble on the skin. But the reality is, this is just a fun science experiment at best. After all, thereâs not nearly enough acid in regular orange juice to have a real âpore cleansingâ effect⦠And baking soda tends to be very abrasive, drying, and can throw off your skinâs pH balance, leading to more issues down the road. If you want a real pore-cleansing treatment â again, I canât recommend [Resurface + Restore Youth Revealing System]( enough. Itâs alpha- and beta-hydroxy acid blend gets right to work at getting rid of any build-up on your skinâs surface... And unlike the orange juice + baking soda combo â thereâs real science to back it up. ;) Alrighty, I think thatâs plenty of âQ&Aâ for today.
