Pop quiz, {NAME}... What do your heart, your brain, and your skin have in common? Give yourself a pat on the back if you said: “They’re all organs!” However, what many of my clients are surprised to learn — is that your skin is actually the LAST organ to receive nutrients from the foods you eat… Which is why — when it comes to healthy, younger-looking skin — some of the best advice I can give you is: beauty starts in the kitchen. This is why I love SMOOTHIES. They’re a quick and easy way to pack some extra skin-reviving nutrients into one drink... So, I’m always looking for new (and delicious) recipes that you can use to rejuvenate your skin from the inside out. With that in mind, I’m excited to share a brand new recipe with you today. It’s called: “The Autumn Glow” And — between you and me — this might be our best recipe yet! Here’s what you’ll need: - 1 cup frozen strawberries or blueberries (or a mix) - 1 medium carrot - ¼ cup frozen pineapple (or mango) - 1 cup fresh spinach - ¼ medium avocado (peel removed) - 1” knob of fresh ginger or 1 tsp dried powdered ginger - 1” fresh turmeric root or 1 tsp dried powdered turmeric - 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (add more as needed) Simply toss all of the ingredients into your mixer and blend until smooth. That’s it! You’ll find it tastes sweet and tropical — with a delicious kick of crispy spice to boot. It’s fantastic for your skin because: First up, you have the berries… which are rich in Vitamin C... for a brighter, more radiant complexion. (Not to mention, Vitamin C is known to help boost collagen production, making it essential in the fight against sagging skin!) Then, you add the carrot — an excellent source of Vitamin A — to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots. Next up is the pineapple. It’s packed with bromelain for smooth, soft skin… plus a delicious cocktail of antioxidants that help to fight dullness and fine lines. Then, the “super greens” in this recipe come from a food I love to eat daily: spinach! It’s brimming with beauty-boosting compounds — like iron, folate, calcium, chlorophyll, magnesium, and Vitamin K — which can all help slow down the signs of aging. Meanwhile, the healthy fats in avocado have been shown to promote moisture retention, and help your skin to keep its elasticity. Then, to crown this queen of smoothies, you have ginger and turmeric — two amazing spices for skin health. Together, they help to even your skin tone and restore its natural glow. And last but not least — as the “base” ingredient — you have almond milk. It gives you a huge boost of Vitamin E, to help fight off sun damage that causes fine lines and dark spots. So, what do you say, {NAME}… are you up for trying this smoothie at home? I’m confident you’ll love the way it tastes — not to mention, the way it helps to rejuvenate your skin’s appearance from the inside out! So give it a whirl and let me know what you think. Personally, I recommend drinking some type of superfood smoothie at least 3 times a week as part of your overall beauty regimen... And if you’re looking for an extra boost of radiance this time of year, this recipe is a real WINNER!
