Dear {NAME}, I love a good old-fashioned cookout. The smell of charcoal on a warm summer evening

Dear {NAME}, I love a good old-fashioned cookout. The smell of charcoal on a warm summer evening… A backyard full of friends and family... And, of course, tons of home-cooked food for all to enjoy. What could be better? But — if you’re trying to maintain a youthful appearance — there’s just ONE problem: Most of those “fresh-off-the-grill” staples we’ve come to love… Are major skin-agers. Take hot dogs, for example. By now, you probably know these ultra-processed meats aren’t exactly “healthy”... (The World Health Organization has even linked them to a higher risk of certain cancers.) And it goes without saying — anything with that many preservatives is bound to rob your skin of its healthy, youthful glow. But if that’s not reason enough to take hot dogs off your shopping list, consider this: Their notoriously high sodium content can ALSO put you on the fast track to puffy eyes and unsightly facial bloating! And as for burgers? Well, I’ll admit, I love a big juicy patty every now and then myself… So I don’t expect you to shun them altogether. That said, if you’re serious about your skin’s appearance — moderation is key. You see, when red meat is cooked at high temperatures (like on a grill), it releases harmful compounds… Which, on top of being pretty bad for you in general, destroy the key structural proteins in your skin. (If this sounds familiar, it’s because I’m referring to the same skin-aging glycation process we typically associate with sugar!) So if you want to keep your skin firm, smooth, and lifted — keep the burgers to a minimum. The good news? You can still throw one heck of a cookout without putting your appearance in jeopardy. In fact, there’s a way to indulge your cravings… while helping your skin look YOUNGER at the same time! So don’t retire your grill just yet. Simply swap those dogs and burgers for fresh salmon fillets — and follow the recipe below :) Not only is salmon much healthier than hot dogs, red meat, and even chicken… It’s also LOADED with more skin-boosting nutrients than just about any other protein — too many to even list, in fact. So let’s just say, if there’s a sign of aging you’re concerned about... Whether it’s wrinkles, sagging skin, sun damage, or even hair loss... You’ll want to eat salmon as often as possible! And while it’s pretty much the ultimate “look younger” superfood on its own… This recipe will help you sneak even MORE beauty benefits into your meal. Plus, it tastes downright gourmet, so if you’re having guests over, they’re sure to be impressed. Dr. Layke’s “Firm + Glow” Salmon (with Beauty-Boosting Salsa) Ingredients (Serves 2): For the salsa: - ½ red onion, diced - 1 Persian cucumber, diced - 1 ripe kiwi, diced - ½ ripe mango, diced - 1 red bell pepper, diced - 1 jalapeno, minced - Juice of 1 lime - 1 Tbsp red wine vinegar - ½ tsp sea salt - ¼ cup minced cilantro or parsley - ½ avocado, diced For the salmon: - 2 4-oz skin on salmon fillets - 2 Tbsp avocado oil - 1 tsp sea salt - 1 tsp cumin Instructions: - Heat your grill, or preheat your oven to 400. - In a large bowl, combine the red onion, cucumber, kiwi, mango, bell pepper, and jalapeno. - Add lime juice, vinegar, sea salt, and cilantro, and stir to combine. - Gently fold in avocado, then set aside. - See 6-8 for grill, or 9-11 for oven instructions. - If using the grill, oil your salmon on all sides with avocado oil. Sprinkle with salt. - Grill over medium heat, skin side down, for 10-15 minutes, until skin is crispy and a knife inserted into the thickest part of the fish comes out clean. - Sprinkle with cumin, and grill an additional minute before proceeding to step 12. - If using the oven, line a sheet tray with foil, and spread half the oil on the tray, half on the salmon. - Sprinkle salmon with salt and cumin. - Bake 20-25 minutes, until a knife inserted into the thickest part of the fish comes out clean. - Serve each fillet with ½ cup of salsa and a green salad.         This summertime dish is always a crowd-pleaser… But more importantly, it combines the collagen-boosting benefits of Omega 3s and amino acids (found in salmon)... With a powerful cocktail of vitamins and antioxidants — for a youthfully radiant complexion to boot. You see, that salsa isn’t just a flavorful topping… It’s chock-full of some of the most potent Vitamin C sources around. So, while a mix of bell peppers, jalapenos, and kiwi fruit might seem unusual — it’s actually what gives this recipe its skin-brightening “superpower.” Of course, your guests will love this exotic ‘sweet and spicy’ concoction… just because it tastes incredible. (Talk about a win-win!) So give this recipe a try next time you fire up the grill or oven, and let me know how you like it. My wife calls it an “edible facial”... so I’m really excited to hear what you think :) Your Beverly Hills MD, Dr. John Layke       This email was sent to {EMAIL} by jlayke@beverlyhills-md.com Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Group 436 N.
