It’s touted as nature’s Botox… but can this pile of goo really live up to the hype? {NAME} — see this pile of goo? Believe it or not, it’s a face mask — and a FAMOUS one at that. Seriously! The recipe— a sticky concoction of flaxseeds and water — has garnered over 30 million views on TikTok… Where beauty influencers tout it as “nature’s Botox.” But does this 2-ingredient mixture really live up to the hype? Let’s discuss it in today’s edition of… Gimmick or Gamechanger:
The Flaxseed Face Mask
The idea behind the Flaxseed Mask is simple — take a handful of flax seeds, add it to boiling water, leave it to set overnight… And in the morning, you have a slime-textured face mask ready to go. Not the most appetizing picture, I know… But that hasn’t stopped countless women from applying it all over their faces in hopes of achieving smoother-, tighter-looking skin. See, as this mask dries, it stiffens skin and makes it hard to move your facial muscles — similar to the sensation you’d get from Botox. HOWEVER, that’s where the similarities end... Because once this face mask is washed away, that tightening sensation goes right down the drain with it. But while flaxseed face masks can’t deliver the instant skin-tightening results influencers claim they do… I know something that CAN: Argireline. This peptide is quite fascinating… Because in the short term, it can help block the signals from your nerves that tell your muscles to contract — a temporary and totally safe way to prevent the movements that cause wrinkles.1 And in the long term, Argireline helps support collagen and elastin production… Helping skin look firmer, bouncier, and dramatically younger over time. While no topical treatment will ever provide the same results as Botox, Argireline is the closest you can get. That’s exactly why we included it in One Drop Rewind — our “skin freezing” formula that instantly smooths the look of wrinkles for up to 8 hours. (In fact, many of our celebrity clients won’t touch a red carpet without it.) [You can learn more about One Drop Rewind here…]( And in case you’re interested in trying it, I’ve included a major discount for you in the link above. :) So yes, the Flaxseed Face Mask is definitely a gimmick… But One Drop Rewind? That's a total gamechanger. Your Beverly Hills MD, Dr. Payman Danielpour P.S. Flaxseed may not make a great face mask… But you can still use them to your skin’s benefit by EATING them! After all, flaxseeds are packed with omega-3 fatty acids… Which are incredible for maintaining supple, hydrated skin and smoothing out the look of wrinkles.2 Plus, they contain special antioxidants called lignans, which can support collagen production AND help protect skin from oxidative stress — like pollution and sun damage.3 Thankfully, flaxseeds are as delicious as they are versatile. They have a subtle nutty flavor, and can be eaten raw, cooked, whole, or ground… And — not to brag — but I’m somewhat of a flaxseed aficionado. (I’m such a fan of their health benefits, I always have a bag of them in my pantry!)

So, here are a few of my favorite ways to add flaxseeds to your everyday meals: 1. Blend them into smoothies: Add a tablespoon of ground flaxseeds to your favorite smoothie recipe before blending. This adds a nutritional boost without altering the taste. 2. Mix them into your morning yogurt or oatmeal: Sprinkle whole or ground flaxseeds over your yogurt or oatmeal for an added crunch and nutty flavor. 3. Pour them on top of salads or soups: For a texture and flavor upgrade, add a dusting of flaxseeds to salads or soups just before serving. They add a nutritious punch and a subtle nutty taste. Note: If you opt to use ground flaxseeds, I recommend grinding them yourself with a food processor, rather than purchasing pre-ground seeds. (This helps them stay fresh for much longer!) Believe me, these simple sneak-ins can benefit your appearance way more than that gross-looking mask. Not to mention, they’re fantastic for your digestion, brain health, and heart health — so in my book, they're a big win-win. Enjoy!   Sources: Lim, S.
