Are these beauty trends here to stay? And more importantly: are they ACTUALLY good for your skin?? Hey, {NAME}! Last week, I reached out to learn YOUR burning skincare questions… And man did the BHMD community come through! We received tons of super insightful questions… So I figured I’d cover a few of them in today’s newsletter. Let’s get into it!  #1. “I keep hearing about double cleansing. Is it really necessary or can I get away with just using one cleanser?" Ah, the double cleanse debate! Here's the lowdown: The first cleanse (usually an oil-based cleanser) helps break down stubborn makeup and sunscreen… And it's actually a game-changer for thoroughly removing makeup, sunscreen, and excess oil from your skin. Think of it like washing your dishes — you wouldn't skip the soap, would you? But is double cleansing necessary? Well, if you wear makeup or sunscreen regularly — double cleansing can help keep your skin looking fresh and radiant. However, I wouldn’t do it TOO often… otherwise you risk stripping your skin of its natural moisture (which is key for keeping skin tight and smooth). So I’d stick to it only when your skin needs a little extra TLC.  #2. “I have a lot of products in my skincare regimen. In what order should I apply them?” Here’s a little “cheat sheet.” After you’ve cleansed your skin and applied your eye cream, follow THIS order… 1) MISTS 2) MILKS or CONCENTRATES 3) SERUMS 4) MOISTURIZERS 5) CREAMS And if this “cheat sheet” doesn’t fit your routine exactly, just remember this rule of thumb: Start with your THINNEST products… and work up to the THICKEST. The thinner ones will absorb easily and quickly — so layering thicker products on top of it won’t be a problem. (If you start with your thickest ones, you’ll be left with a slippery, slide-y mess!)  #3. “I’m curious, what’s your take on the lip filler and botox craze happening right now?” Dr. Layke and I were literally just talking about this. Because the reality is, excess ANYTHING is never good… And folks are now facing what we in the industry call filler fatigue. This happens when skin almost becomes “too full”. And instead of looking plump, it almost looks doughy and loose. Filler fatigue has become so common in fact… People come into our office needing their fillers dissolved after being overfilled at other clinics. (Some doctors just don't know how to say NO. 🙄) Our hope is that the fad will die down… After all, our goal is to enhance someone’s natural features — not chase unrealistic beauty standards. It’s our philosophy, and why we’re so proud of the work we do both in our office AND with Beverly Hills MD.  #4. “I notice young people are putting Vaseline on their skin in place of moisturizer... is this actually a good idea? Short answer: Only as a last resort. Vaseline is an old trick from before scientists really began studying skincare… And unfortunately, it’s back as a trend online. They call it slugging. However — that thick, sticky texture is a recipe for trapped bacteria in your pores (so you might wind up with blemishes and pore enlargement). And, it certainly doesn’t have age-fighting active ingredients you need to see real wrinkle-busting results. If you DO find yourself stuck without a proper skin cream for the night… You’re better off heading to the kitchen for a little avocado oil or olive oil to tide you over ‘til morning. Okay, I think that was a pretty good “Q&A” session for today. :) I’ll answer more questions in a future email… So if you have any questions about your skincare routine, myths you’ve heard, or DIYs you want to try — hit “reply” and let me know! Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
