While the COVID pandemic pushed spirits to an all-time low, with Halloween spending in 2020 being the least spent in years², people are making sure to show up for Halloween in frightening numbers this year—73% of Americans plan on participating in Halloween-related activities this year, up from 69% in 2022.² [graph] [Rate chart]( [Source: National Retail Federation]( The US is spending the most they’ve spent on Halloween in years, with total Halloween spending expected to reach a record of $12.2 billion, with $3.9 billion of that on home decor, exceeding last year’s record of $10.6 billion.² Of those celebrating Halloween, more than three-quarters plan to purchase decorations for their homes.² The tradition of decorating for Halloween can be traced back thousands of years to the early roots of the holiday, the Celtic festival of Samhain. The Celts believed that the souls of the dead could return home during this time, and would light bonfires, and decorate and dress in frightening costumes in an attempt to scare them off. If you want to take home the winning title for Halloween decor, you may want to consider upgrading to a haunted house altogether. We all know that no one does a haunted house like the Walt Disney Company, who recently listed the iconic Haunted Mansion on [Zillow]( making your spookiest dreams possible. [Haunted mansion]( [Credit: Bair10 via Wikimedia Commons]( In celebration of the recent release of the new Haunted Mansion movie, Disney partnered with Zillow to show off the mansion's frills and it’s currently listed for a price that anyone can pay—one easy payment of your soul. The property sits on a 58,833 sqft lot and includes five bedrooms and two bathrooms. The amenities are what truly makes this home one of a kind; inside you’ll find a ballroom, a cemetery, a seance room, great unnatural light, brimstone fireplaces, and random cooling without notice. The Haunted Mansion has become a staple attraction for Disney. A version of the ride exists in one form or another in nearly every Disney park around the world. The first Haunted Mansion, located in Disneyland, opened its doors on August 9th, 1969, and was the first major attraction to open without the direct supervision of Walt Disney. While Walt was involved in the early concepts of the attraction and construction began in 1961, it remained unoccupied until 1969 after Walt’s passing. Fun facts about the famous Disneyland attraction: - Even though the Haunted Mansion didn’t come to life until nearly 15 years after Disneyland opened, the idea for a haunted house at Disneyland was included while the theme park was still being conceptualized in 1952. - The exterior of the home is heavily influenced by the Victorian-era Shipley-Lydecker House in Baltimore, Maryland. - Within a week of the Haunted Mansion’s opening, Disneyland celebrated what was then its highest single-day attendance. - 20 tombstone tributes exist both inside and around the exterior of the attraction, which honor several Disney Legends and Walt Disney Imagineers who created and maintain the attraction. --------------------------------------------------------------- Better Mortgage Interested in getting verified?
