She was just the second woman to serve on the Supreme Court and was an inspiration for the countless under-served in our country. After a long day's work, I sat down in my living room and noticed a small book on our coffee table: “You Can’t Spell Truth Without Ruth: An Unauthorized Collection of Witty and Wise Quotes From the Queen of Supreme, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.” Paging through, I shared out loud some quotes with my family, cherishing her wisdom and commitment to equality. For many, RBG’s death could mark the beginning of a grim era. Donald Trump now has the chance to put a third person on the Supreme Court with a life-time appointment. And, of course, it is infuriating that Mitch McConnell immediately stated there would be confirmation hearings on Trump’s nominee. There is a well-founded fear that decades of hard-fought progress towards gender and racial justice, abortion, and LQBTQ+ rights will be reversed with a conservative majority on the court. Without the strong voice of reason RBG provided, this is a very real possibility. {NAME} — We should not allow this tragedy to stamp out hope. We must not allow ourselves to grow more apathetic. We must serve her memory and ourselves by rallying around this stalwart of equality. We must fight for her dying wish — that she “will not be replaced until a new President is installed” — like our future depends on it, because for so many it very well does. {NAME} — This November we have a chance to end the continual disaster of the Trump Presidency. We have a chance to fill the House and Senate with people who will stand for justice, equality, and compassion for their fellow humans. Do not squander this chance. Vote and make your voice heard. Rest in Power, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. May your memory power us to double down in our fight for equality and justice. — Beth Beth Doglio is a State Representative, community organizer, climate activist, mother of two, and candidate for the House of Representatives in Washington’s 10th District. She needs your support in order to fight the status quo on climate change, housing, and gun responsibility. [SUPPORT BETH >>]( You are an important part of our movement!
