Fighting for gender equity

[ March is Women’s History Month and we here at Bera HQ are rededicating ourselves to fighting for gender equity and a nation that is more fair and just for all. Today is Equal Pay Day, which signifies how many extra days women have to work on average to earn what their male counterparts did in the previous year. This year, that day is 84 days into the new year. House Democrats have taken bold action to address the gender inequities that unfortunately still exist in our country: Just recently, they removed the arbitrary deadline to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, which would ensure equal rights for all Americans regardless of sex. They voted to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, a landmark bill to defend victims of domestic and sexual violence. And together, they passed the Equality Act to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation and gender identity.
