[ {NAME}, I can’t thank you enough. Because of your support during our critical FEC quarterly fundraising campaign, we were able to exceed our goal – that means more resources to protect our Democratic majority as we go into the height of election season. As we head into this Fourth of July holiday, I know it’s bound to feel different than years past. As a doctor, it is clear that the right thing this year is not to head out to big cookouts and other large parties, but to continue social distancing and following CDC guidelines to keep our families and friends safe. While we grapple with the coronavirus, we are also facing a reckoning as a nation: as more Black Americans are killed at the hands of police and people are rightly horrified by the hate in this country, we must question who we are as Americans and, perhaps more importantly, what do we stand for? Right now, we are going through one of the toughest times in our history, and that puts a lot of things into perspective. We know that – as Americans – we must strive for a country that is truly equal for all, that is resilient, and that is empathetic to others. The best way to celebrate this Independence Day is to appreciate the great things about being an American, but also to reflect on the work that we have to do to make this nation all it can be... and then take steps to make it happen. So raise your voices, participate in the process, and hold the government accountable to all the people. That’s what the Founders envisioned when they set out to build this nation nearly 250 years ago. As we all enjoy the Fourth of July holiday, I’m particularly grateful to have you standing with me. Have a fabulous day, and a safe and happy Independence Day.
