Something to noodle around in your brain: One of the most important lessons I learned up in this business was early on when writing the sales letter for Email Players subscriber and âFounding father of online advertisingâ (even Time Magazines credits him for it) Ken McCarthyâs copywriting course, and the section inside about all the sociopaths in the online marketing industry. And I mean that literally: The number I heard was 1 in 23 people are sociopaths. i.e., they have no conscience, and zero ability to care about anyone. Lying, cheating, swindling, even killing is as morally okay with them as ordering a burger and a coke at McDonalds. Doesnât mean they all do bad things, or that their lives are necessarily easy or that they are all âDexterâ wanting to put you on a table and carve you up. But theyâre out there. And they are attracted to industries where persuasion is celebrated like flies to shyt. Like, for example, direct marketing. Their otherworldly persuasion abilities thrive here. Iâm not saying thereâs one behind every bush. And Iâm not talking about anyone in particular, so no need to try to decipher anything. I can already see the gossipers nattering away thinking this is code for someone in particular when it's not. But itâs one reason Iâm so standoffish in this industry. And it can take years (literally) for me to even agree to JV with someone. Because too many people up in this business are either bonafide sociopaths⦠or else are heavily influenced by sociopaths. I've met people who canât so much as hold a conversation for three minutes without citing some idiot who I know for a fact is full of crap and promotes crap and lies like it's a sport. And unfortunately the normies who don't yet know better tend to eat it up. I've noticed people I know who live in high trust areas have to be screwed over at least once or twice by one of these boys or ghouls to start accepting the reality they exist. Those in low trust areas don't seem to have this problem, and are quick to avoid, less likely to get suckered. Iâve seen this more times than I can count in the past 22 years: People with almost supernatural-like persuasion skills doing truly awful things. And, in many cases, not only getting away with it, but being celebrated for it. Early on it used to surprise me. These days? I just expect it. But, every now and then, if you look around, you can also see the exact the opposite. Someone with a peculiar skill set who rises up & does great things with their talents to benefit mankind. Take, for example, BerserkerMailâs Senior Architect Pedro. Guy is a true savant at all-things web development & platform building. Understands how platforms & the engineers who build those platforms âthinkâ like nobody else. And is one of those guys who Troy and our COO Nicole English go out of their way to help slow his brain down and take breaks so he doesnât burn himself out (he can, and does, do the work of 5 developers in half the time when heâs really going). Anyway, yes, heâs helped build out our software platforms. (BerserkerMail, Learnistic, SocialLair, & our upcoming tools) But heâs also used his developer skills to contribute to major brain cancer research. From an email he sent Troy when asked about his background: === In the interview, I did for a local Itajubá journal but didn't follow up - it was very minor, I can send them an email and check what happened with it. At the time, it was because my IRA (Ãndice de Rendimento Acadêmico) was 9.3 from a max of 10, and because through my whole graduation I didn't have to redo any classes and I also published an article on a brain cancer related drug treatment in the Journal of Biomaterials Science. The DOI for the article is here: [httpsâ¶//www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/09205063.2019.1650242]( At the time the article was originally written (2017-ish) I was working as a React developer full time, doing graduation, writing the article and at the early stages of my first startup. For the article, I managed the protein simulations on a clustered environment I built with given hardware from the University and helped a lab team to prove their polymer could help brain cancer treatment. === Imagine that: Guy literally used his developer skills to help brain cancer research. And this is the kind of people Troy likes to hire for the software teams. Especially BerserkerMail â which Pedro worked hard to help us get the platformâs ridiculously high inbox deliverability, to make its testing and automation functionality âcaveman friendlyâ, to create its buttery smooth & intuitive interface, and to make scheduling and/or sending emails and/or campaigns as fast, frictionless, and fun as we can. If youâre looking for an email platform simply get a free test drive. No credit card is required.
