Here we go: Even though I’ve been studying funnels for over 20 years/since 2003 when I first heard the term “marketing funnel” in an audio taped recording taught by Bill Glazer at a Dan Kennedy event way back in the day… I’ve never claimed to be a “funnel” guy. Probably one of the few times I have even used the word is when I created the Funnel Fiend villain in my Email Players Comicbooks. But, since next month features that simp of all simp Hallmark holidays Valentine’s Day… and since the topic is near-and-dear to my charred, blackened heart… next month's February Email Players issue teaches what I unaffectionately refer to as: “The Funnel of Love” It comes with two giant barely-beating heart-shaped caveats: 1. It is ridiculously simple — so simple it will almost certainly disappoint the goo-roo fanboys. But when I posted it on Twitter last year (yes, it can fit into a single 280-character Tweet) it was quite well-received indeed. 2. It’s based totally on leverage and not “force” — I’m a “principles” guy more than a “tactics” guy as it is. And I get only more so the older I grow, as tactics mean force, but principles mean leverage. And while force is great in email, copywriting, marketing, etc… it ultimately pales in comparison to the raw profit-making and influence-creating leverage. But combine the two? You almost can’t lose. Whatever the case, the deadline to subscribe in time will be here soon. If you want to subscribe you best hop to it: [https∶//www.EmailPlayers.com]( Ben Settle P.S. Along with the February “Marketing Funnel of Love” Email Players issue, I am also including an 8-page bonus called: “The Business of Lust” And it’s like a 10-minute crash course in how I think, write, and make sales with email. If that interests you, here’s some of what’s inside: * Why the best method for making sales in 2024 was figured out in 1994. (The vast majority of money via direct response online today is basically the exact same thing that made the vast majority of money back then in direct response online. Ain’t nothing new under the sun..) * How to “snuff out” email list churn while ramping up email list retention. * Email list subscribers you should rake and scuttle off your list as soon as humanly possible if you care about inbox deliverability, sales, and peace of mind. * How to radically improve your email inbox deliverability with Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. * What the world’s best face-to-face salesmen did to build relationships with buyers that can easily be replicated with email. * Ideas for how to re-engage and win back inactive email list subscribers. * A near “caveman proof” way to integrate email marketing with other digital marketing channels. (Based on how the late William Randolph Hearst integrated the various marketing channels he used in the 1920’s - 1940’s to grow his media empire — with no needing to be a billionaire like he was required.) * Anatomy of a high-converting email landing page. * Why probably the best direct marketing resource you can study is the early Sears Catalog from the late 1800’s. (The technology has changed but not the principles that made it work. Amazon, for example, is simply a modern Sears Catalog according to the founding father of online marketing Ken McCarthy.) * The One-Sentence email campaign plan that’s made my business the most sales over the years. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
