Riffing on yesterdayâs email: (re: a comment about my no-coming-back policy that apparently bothers some folks) I want to quote something my pal Sir Doberman of Dan of Chateau Gallapoo told me about this policy. And why he was thinking of adopting it in his own business for his newsletter and may already have: === Yes, PLEASE quote me. I think these schmucks in the IM market who want a magic money button or want a miracle from one newsletter need to be repelled in all possible ways. I mean, it's only a few bucks a day, for cryin' out loud. But they're such dumbasses they don't see their cognitive dissonance of canceling a newslettter subscription teaching how to make money and them desiring to be successful and make money. === When olâ DD is let off the chain and snarls and froths I suggest people listen. Heâs been in this game for some 30 years. And he has seen it all. There is nothing new under the sun with the guys he's referring to. And while word around the campfire is a lot of subscription offers are suffering. I remember seeing that coming way back in 2020 when everyone and their mother started selling subscription offers... especially a lot of businesses on my list after I launched elBenbo Press and, a few months later, Subscription Biz. So probably, in some small way at least, I am definitely part of the problem⦠Back to the grind: Even subscription offers by boys & ghouls with huge, loyal followings are tanking. The reason? They probably catered to these mopes described above. Me? Iâve been doing just the opposite for at least 15 years years. (I sold my first subscription offer in 2009) First as a matter of principle. i.e., I refuse to sell to those types or give them any real knowledge. They are mostly marketing cosplayers sucking their thumbs at best. So itâs my hope they go haunt someone else. They certainly donât belong amongst us in my Email Players of the Horde. Then, later, it became clear that, while my overall growth is slower (but far more steady) with this approach, itâs far more predictable, and my customers are â as a whole â far more successful with my info than they would be otherwise. In many cases, they tell me this, and Iâve posted their testimonials in prior emails, and will continue to as they come in. This transcends me or my business. I truly believe my approach affects the entire industry. Itâs like men who put up with low class behavior from girlfriends. All they do is make it harder on the next guy after she leaves him.. Just like the guys who have dated my ex girlfriends have no-doubt benefited from my instilling standards on them for whatever time we were together, other marketers who benefit from the quality of my customers (i.e., my customers found them because of my mentioning them or referring them, etc) should be on their knees thanking me. Iâve made their lives a hoâ bunch more easier than they realize. But you know what? I have yet to get a single thank you from any of them. Yeesh, talk about selfish⦠Anyway, so the way I see it Iâm doing the exiled a favor. They are simply not going to have the mental fortitude or long term vision and character or even just the interest to implement 90% of what I teach in Email Players. This goes triple for the upcoming February issue. For one, the information takes time (years for some) to implement all of it. I first learned part of what it teaches in 2008 and even I am still implementing it, playing around with it, making it fit into current events and circumstances. The game never ends if you do things my way. And two, itâs all meat & potatoes info nobody wants to hear. But, they donât have to âlikeâ it, they just have to do it. Thus, my policy: Someone who canât even maintain a subscription that costs a few bucks per day, but almost certainly spends that same amount each month on sugar coffees at Star Schnooks/Doordash/cable TV/multiple streaming services is simply too short for the ride. They ought to go trawl the make money online goo-roos on Facebook. Theyâll be happier and the goo-roos who haunt such places can probably use the business. More on the February issue tomorrow.
