True story: A PBS documentary about the late talk show host “king” Johnny Carson once talk

True story: A PBS documentary about the late talk show host “king” Johnny Carson once talked about Arsenio Hall giving the networks the shakes due to his huge popularity. Would this be the end of Johnny? Would Arsenio slay the king of late night? Turns out, no. Nobody was going to beat Johnny. And Arsenio knew it. Especially since he had seen a bunch of others try only to fade away into obscurity. Arsenio's ace in the hole? In his own words: "The best way to compete against Johnny is to find your own niche. Find your own genre and try to co-exist with him. My idea was, Johnny has this thing that no one can touch. Maybe I can have the kids of that demographic. Maybe I can have the children of Johnny's audience. That's the key. Don't compete. Find what's your uniquely yours." Thus the leveraged power of… Positioning! Positioning is the key to the whole game in winning at anything — media, martial arts, items on grocery store shelves, chess, war, and, yes… copywriting. In fact, if you struggle with writing copy, struggle with getting sales, or struggle with getting attention, the response you want, or even struggling to be noticed by clients, customers, and your market… positioning can do it for you even if your selling, copywriting, and other marketing skills suck. I use it to this day, in every book and venture I launch. Take, for example, my “Brand Barbarian” book I launched a few years ago. Easily one of my biggest sellers up in this business — even though not a single person had ever asked me to create such a book, and even though I’ve never been accused of being a “branding” coach, expert or… “guru.” My way to stand out amongst the 1000+ other branding books, programs, & products? Positioning. That book has no “competition” from other branding coaches or authors any more than Pei Mei in the “Kill Bill” movies has any competition with the low rent storefront karate studios or million info products about fighting, kung fu, or martial arts. It’s all about positioning, Toots. Positioning alone can potentially sell products people didn’t even ask for. It can sometimes grow info businesses for marketers who lack testimonials or credibility. And, it can even help make substandard copy written by raw, “wriggling” newbies at copywriting who struggle to write a grocery list pull lots of sales and orders. Enter the great Ken McCarthy’s “Advanced Copywriting For Serious Info Marketers” course. Most of what I have learned about positioning is from this course. And, I daresay, his is the only course I’ve ever gone through (admittedly I have obviously not been through every one ever published) that teaches it all, much less goes as deep and psychological (what he calls "the inner game") into the subject. Which brings me to the business: He’s offering this prestigious course at a gigantic discount to businesses in my Horde only until tonight, 1/12 at midnight EST. Plus, if you use my affiliate link and send me your receipt, the title of the book you want me to send you, & the shipping address by that deadline (not after — to be clear, you must send your receipt, shipping address, and the title you want to me, not just buy the course, BEFORE the deadline to get it), I will send you: 1. Free copy of any ONE book I sell I don’t care if it’s one of the bigger ticket ones or one of the more inexpensive ones. Simply buy Ken’s course by the deadline and then email me your receipt with your shipping address & the book you want me to send you (also by the deadline — if you send me your receipt, the title of the book you want, and your shipping address AFTER the above deadline, I am not sending you the book, let me be very clear about that here) 2. Live call with me and Ken about: The end of the world! Not only will we talk about copywriting (of course), but I want to grill him about the economy. Understand that Ken “came of age” in finance during the 80’s in Wall Street. I have learned more from him (and I told him this recently) about not just basic economics that is not taught in school than from anyone else, but he genuinely has given me a lot of peace of mind knowing what he does on this topic. Those who read this month’s Email Players issue will know what I mean by that. Not only peace of mind, but he has helped me position and adjust my own finances, what I invest in (it’s not investing advice, just by understanding what’s going on you can make better decisions), what I buy and don’t buy, how I think of money, how I am planning for the fallout of what’s been going on for over a decade and is about to completely unravel probably this year — maybe sooner than the end of the year, maybe later, but it’s inevitable — and the list goes on. This call (day & time TBA) will be live to customers of this promo. (NOTE: this is not for those who bought from earlier promos for this course from me, you got different valuable bonuses. I say this for the greedy guy who always haunts my inbox as if he doesn’t understand how basic, 101 marketing and merchandising works — these are the goobers who probably go to JC Penny and complain that the current sale on dress shirts is great, and as someone who bought one of the shirts a year earlier at a different price, they should still get the current deal prorated for them this time…) All right ‘nuff said about that. The deadline is tonight, Friday 1/12 at midnight EST to get Ken’s course at the discount, get any ONE book I sell (if you send me your receipt, shipping address, and the title of the book you want me to send you by the deadline, if you send the above to me after the deadline I will NOT send you the book, many-a-disappointed-customer who couldn’t tell time has learned this hard way…), plus access to the live call above. Hopefully that is all clear. Whatever the case, here is the link: [https∶//www.EmailPlayers.com/secret-course]( Ben Settle This email was sent by Ben Settle as owner of Settle, LLC.
