A rather bizarre historical story I once heard: When James Cameron was involved in the casting process for the first Terminator movie, one person who was briefly considered to play the killer cyborg was none other than… O.J. Simpson. Yes, that O.J. The one accused of murdering his wife & his wife’s friend. Anyway, the reason O.J. was immediately rejected for the part: Cameron felt the ex-football player was “too nice.” And, also, that he wouldn’t be believable as a killing machine. Believe it or not, this is extremely relevant to anyone in business. And the reason it is extremely relevant to anyone in business is because a lot of people would say O.J. is a bonafide sociopath. I will let the social media fanboys with nothing better to do with their time argue over if that's technically true or not, or if he's even guilty or not (i.e. took the fall for his son who some say really did it, which is intriguing to me). But a sociopath is someone either born with, or as a result of some kind of accident, zero ability to care about anyone else. They simply aren’t “wired” with a conscience. And, thus, one of the “marks” of a sociopath is you’ll never know said sociopath is a sociopath because they are masters at disguising the fact they are sociopaths to the point you’d likely think the exact opposite of what they really are. They are better at posing as regular humans than, well, regular humans. In fact, the more you think "There's NO WAY that person would be a sociopath!" probably the better the chance that person is. Which is why when someone gets fleeced by one they never see it coming. Some more interesting facts about sociopaths: Roughly 1 in 23 people you know is a sociopath according to psychologist & author of “The Sociopath Next Door” Martha Stout — who also served on the clinical faculty of the Harvard Medical School for over 25 years. That means chances are you know at least a few. Very likely even in your own circle of friends & colleagues. Maybe even in your own family. Possibly in your own home... And, due to reasons Ken McCarthy teaches in his copywriting course, in direct marketing they simply abound. I’m not saying there is one behind every bush. But certainly there’s one or two behind every few bushes — especially amongst the guru-dom probably. And if you know what to look for, you can see these people coming a mile away — without needing any special discernment, training, or "street smarts" whatsoever. All you have to know are a few little "signs" they leave wherever they go. Signs that can help you start to potentially discern if you are possibly dealing with one when they start talking to you or, yes… sending you emails, DM’s, or possibly even text messages. This kind of knowledge is vital when dealing with new joint venture partners, clients, service providers, or other assorted "gurus" in your field. If’n this interests you, here is the deal: Ken’s offering his prestigious “Advanced Copywriting For Serious Info Marketers” course at a gigantic discount for my Horde only, until tomorrow, Friday 1/12 at midnight EST. Plus, if you use my affiliate link and send me your receipt, the title of the book you want me to send you, & the shipping address by that deadline (not after — to be clear, you must send your receipt, shipping address, and the title you want to me, not just buy the course, BEFORE the deadline to get it), I will send you: 1. Free copy of any ONE book I sell I don’t care if it’s one of the bigger ticket ones or one of the more inexpensive ones. Simply buy Ken’s course by the deadline and then email me your receipt with your shipping address & the book you want me to send you (also by the deadline — if you send me your receipt, the title of the book you want, and your shipping address AFTER the above deadline, I am not sending you the book, let me be very clear about that here) 2. Live call with me and Ken about: The end of the world! Not only will we talk about copywriting (of course), but I want to grill him about the economy. Understand that Ken “came of age” in finance during the 80’s in Wall Street. I have learned more from him (and I told him this recently) about not just basic economics that is not taught in school than from anyone else, but he genuinely has given me a lot of peace of mind knowing what he does on this topic. Those who read this month’s Email Players issue will know what I mean by that. Not only peace of mind, but he has helped me position and adjust my own finances, what I invest in (it’s not investing advice, just by understanding what’s going on you can make better decisions), what I buy and don’t buy, how I think of money, how I am planning for the fallout of what’s been going on for over a decade and is about to completely unravel probably this year — maybe sooner than the end of the year, maybe later, but it’s inevitable — and the list goes on. This call (day & time TBA) will be live to customers of this promo. All right ‘nuff said about that. The deadline is tomorrow, Friday 1/12 at midnight EST to get Ken’s course at the discount, get any ONE book I sell (if you send me your receipt, shipping address, and the title of the book you want me to send you by the deadline, if you send the above to me after the deadline I will NOT send you the book, many-a-disappointed-customer who couldn’t tell time has learned this hard way…), plus access to the live call above. Hopefully that is all clear. Whatever the case, here is the link: [https∶//www.EmailPlayers.com/secret-course]( Ben Settle This email was sent by Ben Settle as owner of Settle, LLC. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
