Today’s 18-hour “Seasons Emailings” sale offer is for my book: “Copy Slacker” But first, a cautionary tale: A while back, one of my “Email Players” subscribers showed me something a well-known copywriting guru taught in a Flakebook group. Here’s what happened: A guy asked the group about who they can learn about writing fun, polarizing, and “edutainment” (as they described it, that is not how I describe it at all) emails from other than from Yours Crotchety. Apparently, I wasn’t that person’s cup of Earl Gray. To which said guru declared he doesn’t get off on those types of emails. And, feels prospects don’t want a doctor joking around, etc. All of which I found rather ironic. Why? Because I have always taught market first, technique second. For example: We didn’t convert almost 50% of our list into buyers in weight loss by joking around about the problem, or going all “Ben Settle” on them pleasantly plump chicks we were selling to. No, I modulated all the copy to the market. Not just the emails, but also the sales letters, too. It was always all about the market. Anyway, it was a timely example, because my Copy Slacker book spends a lot of time on how to research and approach your copy from a “market first” position. In fact, it even includes several sales letter analyses in one of the appendixes — where you can see how I approached different markets with more serious tones (like weight loss, parents looking for college funding for their kids, etc) as far as tone and style, all modulated to the people in it. The rub: If you want to learn how I do it, ignore these Facebook copywriting gurus who can’t even be bothered to get all the facts first before nattering on about what I do, and learn from the source. You can get Copy Slacker with a $200.00 discount ($624 instead of $824) today by: 1. Going to the URL below 2. Buying it before midnight EST tonight (12/10) Here’s the link: [https∶//www.EmailPlayers.com/slacker]( Ben Settle This email was sent by Ben Settle as owner of Settle, LLC. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
