Following are two quotes. The first one below is from the late, great âWorldâs Most Feared Negotiatorâ (who routinely had multiple billion-dollar deals going on at any given time when he was at the top of his game). Here it is: (about what happens to âfreelineâ salesmen in boardrooms every day) â⦠they give all the pricing, all their ideas, all their thoughts, all their concepts and what happens? Two weeks later theyâve already hired another person to do it; theyâre paying a bigger firm to do it and theyâve already taken his ideas and run with them.â This happens to the âmoving the freelineâ guys all the time. And itâs practically an epidemic amongst many freelancers, coaches, consultants, and so-called âagencyâ owners I both know and/or have heard of and seen complaining about this sort of thing. Now, for the second quote. Itâs from Email Players subscriber Ray Brehm: (if it seems a bit âmetaâ, well, just a happy accidentâ¦) === One of the subtle aspects of your ongoing lessons in World Building is the ability to grant status to those inside. Having my name in the P.S. of your emails for the 7-10 days prior to month end, was an amazing feeling. Especially given the quality of people I know are on your list. I received some emails from friends and clients, who congratulated me on being in the orange insert with our interview. It was capped off by showing it to my kids (while still in package), and my 9 year-old Isabella shouting, "That's so awesome!" I can tell you from the recipient side, it creates an incredible amount of loyalty. When you refer to someone as Email Players Subscriber, it is a status symbol. I am going to start to use it with my peeps who are my subscribers. If it has anything close to the same effect, it will be a huge success. Thank you, I very much appreciate it. And nothing beats being a hero in your child's eyes. === I wanted to show you these two quotes for two reasons: 1. To show a testimonial (totally self-serving on my part) 2. To ask: Do you really think the phenomenon in quote number one about businesses giving all their best stuff away, only to turn around and see their would-be clients taking that stuff, sharing it with a different company they decided to hire, and using it with them happens if you have the kind of business described in quote number 2? I can tell you itâs very rare, in my experience. A business that has what Ray described with status, prestige, and a clearly-defined world customers and clients like to be in and donât want to leave, where that status and prestige is âgrantedâ to others inside it is rarely the schlubby free line business guy. Heâs far more likely to be the the one the client takes someone elseâs ideas and hires them to do it. Do what you wish with this info. But I suggest thinking long and hard about it. Especially as the economy buckles in 2024, big tech triples down on policing speech for the election, and the cancel culture goons are out in full effect, standing by, hoping to ruin good businessâ reputation for a virtue signal. Have the kind of business Ray described and it probably wonât matter. All that will likely only work for you, if anything. And even though the December Email Players issue does NOT talk about World-Building, or Status, or Prestige⦠what it does teach is an approach and way of thinking and âmindsetâ to help start creating a World people want to be in (because itâs you, not because you have any actual World-Building figured out yet or not), Status, and Prestige now (while you still have time) that can make all the above happen faster, with customer and clients more likely to seek you out, and with the degenerates who want to waste your time and money and steal from you curated out, scared to even try. That was my experience when adopting the mental side of things I teach inside. I cannot make you promises on these things. But thatâs the kind of phenomenon what I teach inside can help with.
