Below is the second of three emails from a self-described successful & well-connected Agora copywriter after I said I was not interested in his offer to publish my email books in Portuguese down in Brazil. It'd take probably 5+ pages to reprint all the emails. So I'll just show you this one, which was his response when I told him I had zero interest in whatever horse shyt he was doing. It’s a magnificent example of how NOT to do cold emails when you get a No. === OK, I'm willing to go to work for this. I believe it could make a difference because I have a sense of how you are. You want zero bullshitters in your life. I can assure you I'm not one. I hope you checked to make sure I'm the real deal? Do you believe in the work of Mark and John and Bill. Are you open to knowing whom else I'm going to publish? Darnit. I really did not expect this response, but if you're firm it's OK. I'm just disappointed in you. === First strike: His first email to me (again, too long to reprint, but you should get the gist of it, i.e., pitching me on having my products sold and translated in another country) out of the blue was a wall of text email all about him, name dropping, etc. The tone was I should read it because he wrote it. I’m not even sure Jon Buchan’s cold email templates (on sale for a little bit longer today, see below) would have helped him at that point. Second strike: A follow up email (just before the one above) after I said I was not interested asking me why, and whining about how he spent “a lot of time” writing the first email. Literally nobody cares how long you spend writing them a cold email. Especially if the recipient is not even interested in the offer in the first place. Something even a raw, wriggling noob copywriter would know. Third strike: The email above with the lame manipulative nonsense about being disappointed. Plus more pointless name dropping, of course. Fourth strike: Sending me yet another email he sent right after the above I didn’t even bother to skim much less read, nor will bother reprinting here. The lesson: Neediness is as repulsive as the smell of catfish bait. And his cold emails reeked of the stuff. Whatever the case, guy ain’t representing Agora copywriters very well. If you are the cold email-sending type, and want to not sound like the guy above, then realize the Jon Buchan cold email templates are half off for only a little bit longer. It comes with all kinds of extra bonus goodies, too, including: * Charming DMs — for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and anywhere else you can send direct messages to help you get sales calls booked… show free samples of work (e.g. If you’re a copywriter)… Get the attention from highly influential people you admire… Nab response from “dream clients” with the aim of working with them… Invite yourself onto relevant podcasts… Grab the attention of journalists to write a story about you or publish your content… Follow up messages to send if you don’t get a reply from your initial message, and more. * Magic Cold Email Training — which runs through one of Jon’s most successful cold email templates line by line. * Jon’s personal swipe file of website copy, emails, guerrilla marketing, direct mail campaigns, pr campaigns and content marketing * Content Marketing Strategy Guide — about creating content that thinks and plays big to get featured by huge publications such as Entrepreneur.com, Inc.com, Yahoo Business, Time Magazine, The Independent and many more. * How To Be Somewhat Funny — 51-page guide shows you how to write more entertaining copy, providing you with joke formulas, rhetorical devices, and writing exercises. * Promote Yourself Playbook mini training session — video that runs through 10 quick and easy tactics to generate leads immediately. * Jon’s new "Agency Sales" eBook and Cheat Sheet — where he provides prescriptive recommendations on exactly what activity you should be pursuing every day to generate leads. * LinkedIn List Building Hack — A crafty little tactic to add hundreds, if not thousands of relevant new subscribers to your list. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
