Since I’ve been going on and on and on about cold emails all week: Last year when running this

Since I’ve been going on and on and on about cold emails all week: Last year when running this exact same offer one of my uncles (in the business broker industry) called me out of the blue, and asked my opinion of a cold email he wants to use. The timing was almost spooky in as much as I rarely ever hear from the guy. And when I do, it’s when I just happen to be selling Jon Buchan’s Cold Email Templates that week? Okay, well, I don’t question such timing when it happens. I just roll with it. Thus I decided to take advantage of this golden opportunity. First: By asking Jon to give his feedback on my uncle’s cold email. Secondly: By posting the cold email and then both my feedback and Jon’s feedback below. Here is the cold email: === Dear Bob, My name is ___, I am a business broker with ___. We have been in business for over 40 years selling businesses just like yours. I have been hearing about your business for a long time. You have great reviews, and it made me wonder …. Is there a chance you would consider selling your business? If not maybe in the future. Currently we have well-funded individuals who are looking for restaurants and bars just like yours. I am just inquiring if you may be interested in selling or just talk about selling? Give me a call for a free valuation. Sincerely, === Here was my feedback: (After telling my uncle I am NOT the cold email guy, so take with fat grain of salt) “It looks like spam at a glance - businesses are always having their emails scraped off their sites by spammers and get very corporate sounding emails like yours below, and they all start to just say, ‘this is spam.’ What would you say if you saw this business owner over a drink, and write like that - conversational? i.e., be the fun, cool guy people want to play golf with and do business with.” My uncle is that guy, BTW. A helluva face-to-face sales man. And good at working clients on the golf course. So my thought: Try to get them out there, playing his game, and use the cold email to lead to it. Obviously, that’s easier said than done. And it’s certainly not the marketing game I play. Thus, the fat grain of salt… Next, here is Jon's more practical advice: === The issue with this email is that it won't get attention. It reads like every other pitch email in someone's inbox. If it reads like everyone else's pitch email, it will likely will be deleted after someone quickly skims the first line. You need to grab attention immediately. Say something unconventional or surprising that piques the prospect's interest and prevents their 'sales email alarm bells' from going off in their head. If you can prevent that from happening, you're far more likely for your email to be read, and not tossed aside immediately. You should also seek to try and make the request as painless as possible. You don't want the reader to suspect they're going to be on the receiving end of an annoying sales pitch. Your goal is to get the prospect to hit 'reply', and then you can begin discussing getting on the phone. It's unlikely someone is going to immediately call you after they receive your first email. Of course, by including your contact details, there is a chance of this. However, your main goal should be to try and get the prospect to hit the reply button. Then the next part of the sales process can commence. === The lessons speak for themselves. Now on to the business: The 50% discount on Jon’s cold email templates ends tomorrow (Friday, 11/10) at midnight EST. It also comes with a laundry list of bonuses, too. Including one on how to use LinkedIn using his wiles to potentially add hundreds, if not thousands, of relevant new subscribers to your list. If you want it, tap my affiliate link below and give it some love: [https∶//www.EmailPlayers.com/cold]( Ben Settle P.S. If you get his cold email templates before the deadline, you also get a bonus video: "A Crafty LinkedIn List Building Hack" According to Jon: "It's a tactic that is repeatable and reliable. You can do it several times per month (or more, depending on how hard you want to push it), allowing you to add countless new, relevant, interested subscribers to your email list without having to spend money on Facebook ads. And because of how LinkedIn works, it is highly unlikely that this tactic will cease to work." Plus, in addition to the Linkedin Bonus, you also get these bonuses too: * Charming DMs — for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and anywhere else you can send direct messages to help you get sales calls booked… show free samples of work (e.g. If you’re a copywriter)… Get the attention from highly influential people you admire… Nab response from “dream clients” with the aim of working with them… Invite yourself onto relevant podcasts… Grab the attention of journalists to write a story about you or publish your content… Follow up messages to send if you don’t get a reply from your initial message, and more. * Magic Cold Email Training — which runs through one of Jon’s most successful cold email templates line by line. * Jon’s personal swipe file of website copy, emails, guerrilla marketing, direct mail campaigns, pr campaigns and content marketing * Content Marketing Strategy Guide — about creating content that thinks and plays big to get featured by huge publications such as Entrepreneur.com, Inc.com, Yahoo Business, Time Magazine, The Independent and many more. * How To Be Somewhat Funny — 51-page guide shows you how to write more entertaining copy, providing you with joke formulas, rhetorical devices, and writing exercises. * Promote Yourself Playbook mini training session — video that runs through 10 quick and easy tactics to generate leads immediately. * Jon’s new "Agency Sales" eBook and Cheat Sheet — where he provides prescriptive recommendations on exactly what activity you should be pursuing every day to generate leads.
