The investment snob

I’m not sure if the following has been made “public” or not. So the names and details have been removed. But last year, I got an email from someone I highly respect up in this industry asking my opinion on one of his newest ventures, while also asking me if I’d be interested in investing in it. Again, not sure he wants me talking about it, so I am keeping this purposely cryptic. But basically, he was talking about selling bonds in his business, which I thought was an extremely clever idea, especially the way he worked it out. But alas, as I told him, I cannot partake. The reason? I only put that kind of business investment money into my own companies. I have other investments circulating out there. But to me, it makes no sense at this point to invest in anyone else’s company, and only my own companies. Anyway, I don’t know if my snobbery is of any interest whatsoever to you or not. And I am probably the last person anyone should listen to about investing. But, I do stand by the principle of investing in one’s own companies, one’s own education, and one’s own future, as well as the future of one’s children and community.
