I would say at least every several weeks or so… one of my favorite A-list copywriters Bob Bly replies to one of my emails. And while we usually agree on a lot of ideas. Some of those times he's busting my balls about something. Sometimes he tells me he agrees, sometimes he said he disagrees, and it's not unusual for him to change one of elBenbo’s wicked ways by making him think differently about something which is one of many reasons I appreciate it when I do hear from him. More: His “how to get clients” advice is the best I ever heard. In fact, probably the single most valuable “tactic” for getting clients I ever used came from him. It was advice I used to help get some really great, high-paying and loyal clients back in the day I heard him teach when he was interviewed by Michael Senoff (a must-listen, imo) back when I did client work. It’s also something almost anyone in business can do, too. And before you even ask, it isn’t just for getting copywriting clients. (It works for coaches, consultants, accountants, any service.) Want to know what that advice is? Okay, fine... What he would do is, if talking to a potential client, and the client challenged him "What makes YOU the guy to hire?" Bob would say, "How about I FedEx you my latest book. You read it, if you don't think I'm the guy to hire after that no problem." From what I understand, oftentimes he'd close the deal. Lots and lots of psychology behind that. And so simple, probably not that many freelancers will ever do it preferring to slide into DMs on social media like dick pics on a dating site with awful cold pitches that nobody wants to read and are more often than not repulsed by. Good news if you build list, mail it, apply Bob's advice instead. I hope you profit from it.
