I’m not a Seth Godin fanboy by any means. But someone was recently telling me about a bit he said where “enough A/B testing will turn any website into a porn site.” It’s very true, too. And obviously the extreme levels of having a business that only lets numbers and metrics and algorithms dictate decisions. In fact, here is some irony: Recently I read the bio of Hugh Hefner who was steeped in deviancy in ways most people have no clue (I certainly didn’t until reading it), whose grandpa was a pedo, whose parents had some weird secksual "hangups" of their own that affected Hugh... and whose entire life was nothing but a pursuit of porno, lust, and getting laid no matter how much it harmed his life, health, personal relationships, and the list goes on. And yet, even he had limits on what he’d allow as far as his content. Not because taking things even farther wouldn’t sell. He knew full well taking things farther than he did would sell. He even got a bit worried about competition blowing past him for a time who didn’t reign things in. But, it went against his vision of what he was trying to do, who he was trying to serve, and the kind of publishing empire he was trying to build, what kind of advertisers he wanted (there was a time where he deliberately took a big hit in ad revenue and subscriptions to stick with his vision, even as competitors were seizing market share). Some would call that bad business. And maybe they’d be right. I am not a fan of Hugh and think he was a gigantic, gaping net negative on society. But it was interesting to see him apply some of the same Sociological Marketing vs Psychological Marketing approaches to building his publishing business as guys like Disney did to his animation studio, Hearst did to his newspaper empire, and even a guy like Trump did to get elected ignoring a lot of polls and stats and numbers and going with a more Sociological approach like I teach in the September Email Players issue. Speaking of which: The deadline to subscribe in time to get it is tomorrow. This is NOT a good jumping on issue for anyone new to my World. Frankly, it is something I taught (broadly, not deeply like I do in the September Email Players issue) in my elBenbo Press book which is like a “401 level” book to my ways. So keep that in mind if you are tempted to subscribe. Probably a lot of it won’t be immediately applicable to every business. And, even if it is, many probably won’t want to do all it. And, admittedly, that might even be for the best. Whatever the case, here’s the link: [https∶//www.EmailPlayers.com]( Ben Settle This email was sent by Ben Settle as owner of Settle, LLC. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
