Something to ponder: During the last several years, and especially during the pandemic when the flakeocolypse erupted suddenly… there has been no shortage of friends, colleagues, peers, customers, and people on my list who have asked for referrals with service providers I use and others I do business with in whatever capacity they are needing help with. Part of this is because I have outsourcing almost down to a science, since I have no employees or even so much as an assistant in my primary business. But most of it is because of how many outright flakes there are haunting the business world. Including those who miss deadlines, do shoddy work, phone things in, or just take your money and run. This applies to JV’s, affiliate partners, & would-be business associates, too. The amount of sheer flakery has been off the charts. It’s like one giant head of dandruff out there. At least, going by what I’ve seen. Mostly, I have not experienced this directly. And the reason why is because I have long done business in strict accordance with advice a self-made billionaire used to give before he joined the choir invisible. Advice that has made my life a ho’ bunch easier, more efficient, and far more profitable, with less headaches or money tossed into a black hole of flakery when it comes to outsourcing, choosing who I do business with, JV with, invest time with, and the list goes on. It’s allowed me to build my own “dream team” I outsource to in a sense. Not saying I’m batting a thousand when it comes to these things. But, many-a-Email Players subscriber, friend, biz associate, etc has benefited from this advice I have been applying when they ask me for a referral or want a lead on who to go to for whatever problem they need help fixing. This also extends to the software company I co-own where we do have employees (we have only the best, in my opinion). And for some of of these boys & ghouls I am the first stop when they want a lead on who to outsource to especially. I suspect the businesses I outsource to get lots of new business from me because of this. Those who I do business with probably get lots of leads/sales from me, too. And, most likely those who I give out the names/businesses I use for various services get a lot of peace of mind from me. And it’s not because I have some kind of magical discernment ability. No, it’s because I follow the above billionaire’s advice. Advice that also happens to be something I write about on page 20 in the September Email Players issue, as it is lockstep in line with my Sociological (vs the typical direct marketer’s “Psychological”) approach to marketing that I believe not only makes my business a lot more long term sales than it’d make otherwise… but helps me pick the best services/JVs/affiliate deals/people to hire in BerserkerMail (the software company I co-own) to work with. Oh I know. My teasing is obnoxious, isn’t it? I get it. Truly, I do. But it’s just the hand you were dealt if you choose to continue to be on my list. If all you want is everything handed to you for free, you’ll have to go follow these free line guys who think giving everything away for free (suddenly back in vogue, I hear) is the best way to do business (it’s not — and is pure Psychological Marketing, not the Sociological Marketing I teach) that works for a few charismatic & tightly connected blokes at the top of the marketing “food chain”, but does horribly for everyone else who does it. And if you want the full story on my Sociological approach to marketing & business then you’ll have to be committed to Email Players and the September issue in particular. On that note… The deadline to subscribe in time for it is in a few short days. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
