Some of the most valuable books I ever done read were not “how to” books. They are books showing what not to do. In fact, I’d argue one can learn a helluva lot more from peoples’ mistakes, than from their successes. It can save one a lot of money, pain, frustration, and maybe even from an early death, in some cases. Certainly it might prevent some of your nightmares from coming true. Following are a few such books. I highly recommend for business especially even if they are not “business” books. Here goes: * The Rise And Fall Of Ancient Egypt — by Toby Wilkinson * Marvel Comics: The Untold Story — by Sean Howe * Slugfest — by Reed Tucker * Johnny Carson — by Henry Bushkin * The Chief — by David Nasaw Lots of what not to do lessons about life, business, marketing, relationships, finances, politics, and more. They also make you realize how flawed even the most accomplished people are… not to mention how empires (business and nations) fall, collapsing under their own corruption, and bad/corrupt leadership & decision-making. Speaking of books: I’m launching yet another book this month (3rd one) Monday. It’s the 9th & final novel of my Enoch Wars series. And for those who replied to my July 10th email and answered my secret question, you can expect your autographed copy soon (we shipped them on Thursday). What? You couldn’t give a fig less about my fiction? What you want is email-related content? Well, aren’t you a piece of work. All right then. Just relax, Pumpkin puss. I’ll be making it more than worth it for those who buy my novel — whether you read it or not — during next week’s launch, with a special email-related shameless bribe/premium/bonus for those who buy it that can potentially put quite a few extra shillings in that skinny, frowning piggy bank of yours. More on that Monday. In the meantime? I sometimes talk more about books I read on my Twitter feed. Eventually I’ll also be doing livestream Q&A’s on there.
