Last month I wrote how AI, fapGPT is basically the sex robots of copywriting. Probably good for copywriters with no real skill or desire to learn the craft. But zero danger to any copywriter with some game. To which Email Players subscriber Christian Petrou replied: === Had a similar discussion with a client about intrusion detection AI from surveillance cameras… …industry idiots claiming it “can detect and tell the difference between a human, cat, dog or a car. You don’t need human guards!” Ummmm - so the AI can tell you if it’s a friend or foe? Nope- no context, just that a person was detected. It speeds up the process and reduce reduces false positives when monitoring 100s of live video and 100s of locations at scale, but AI ain’t conscious. Until the machine tells you it ain’t coming into work today because it doesn’t feel like it, your guard company is safe. The cautionary tale, to your point Ben, ya better get you game up and be practicing daily if you want your pay to show up… well… daily. AI = a faster version of the department of the redundancy department. === I thought that a fitting analogy. Something else to think about: In Dan Kennedy’s newsletter last month he talked about the silliness of people getting caught up in AI, fapGPT, etc, and how it’s just the latest incarnation of the Mad Dash he’s been profiting from since before a lot of these people fapping to AI were born, and maybe even before their own parents were born. It was quite the read. But here is the dollar shot: “Now, webinars, Zoom classes, YouTube videos, etc. pile up overnight. It gets turned into a business opportunity. ALL attention is drawn away from what IS working in businesses to race, run, leap to grab the new, bright, shiny object.” And so it goes. And so it will continue to go. When AI is no longer what everyone hypes it up to be, it’ll be something else. Selling online alone is a relatively new media. And, yes, it, too, will be replaced as the “thing.” Maybe not today, or tomorrow, or 10, 20 years from now. But it’ll happen. And when it does, the same principles that worked back when the Sears catalog started this whole direct marketing game in 1888, that still works today, will continue to work then. And, also just like then, The Mad Dash will happen, with everyone piling in on whatever it is will happen, and it’ll all start anew — while those stubbornly adhering to what works, regardless of market, will continue to reign supreme. Ain’t nothing new under the sun. Currently, in my opinion, email marketing is still the best media for most. Not everyone, or every market/product category. But it is for an awful lot of businesses. Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
