Let’s talk about religion: There are few people more universally despised (fair or not - deserves got nothin' to do with it) than the so-called prosperity preachers, mega church evangelists, and fake faith healers. Or, really, any church that rakes in big amounts of money. Even the less flamboyant wealthy preachers like Obama’s guy Jeremiah Wright. Or even the late Pastor Arnold Murray, who built the single biggest non-denominational church on the planet (going by sheer number of people watching, not in attendance — it’s run by satellite out of a converted roller rink in a small Arkansas town, but whose daily lectures are still “beamed” into some 20 million homes per day) fit this bill. Although for different reasons. These guys are either revered or reviled. Frankly, you could say the same about Jesus Christ Himself. Started with 12, now is the most influential brand on the planet. And love ‘em or hate ‘em, those “brands” all attracted/still attract lots of wealth. And there are lots of reasons why. One of the main reasons: Probably summed up best in an article Dan Kennedy talks about in his 7-Figure Academy course from the New Yorker about a guy aptly named “Reverend Dollar.” He was a black prosperity preacher who was butchered by the media for owning two Rolls-Royces, a private jet, and millions in real estate bought and paid for from the generous donations of his flock. Now this was back in 2012. And he retracted a lot of his views on tithing apparently. But the church was doing literally $80 million per year. Without any real “product” delivered. And with people happily paying him. But here’s the kicker Dan quoted from the New Yorker: “While Dollar's loyal followers love his outsized personality, unsuspecting viewers who chance upon his paid programs on BET are just as likely to be appalled.” Which was Dan’s point: At the 5 or 6-figures level nobody really cares enough about you to be appalled. They will mostly probably even cheer you on. But once you breach the 7-figures and beyond you will appall people. It's like a weird switch that gets flipped. Doesn’t matter how phony or how legit you are. Doesn’t matter if you’re a quack or giving away the cure to some horrible disease. You WILL appall some, and magnetically attract others. And there’s a lot to think on about that. Dan even warns people in his 7-Figure Academy course that it’s perfectly okay to stay safely in the 6-figures arena if the idea of being appalled by at least half (or more, if you’re doing it right) of those who know about you churns your stomach or makes you nervous. And it’s a very real phenomenon. Even Fred Rogers (i.e., Mister Rogers) experienced this. This guy was the biggest advocate for children and the most-beloved guy probably of the 20th century. He could have been as big as Disney possibly if he’d wanted, but he purposely lived a very frugal lifestyle, drove an old car, lived in a modest home, never flashed his wealth to anyone. Even socialist bum politicians always shrieking like scared little girls about "tHe rICH!!!" loved him. And yet, there were still some in the media who went after him hard saying he was a pedo, etc, assuming there HAD to be something going on with him for no other reason than he was wealthy and beloved by so many. Stefania's mom even assumed the same about me at first: "He must be up to SOMETHING!" And so it goes. I will also say this: Even at the lower 7-figures level this is a thing. For example: In my own business it does seem like that’s when the trolling got especially nasty. I went from being that funny guy spanking out smart ass emails each day… to suddenly being a liar, a fraud, all-talk, the tallest midget in the room (nobody ever called me tall before…), a snake oil salesman, an egoic moron, a piece of shit, an ass who should be ashamed of myself, a psychopath (just not a very charming one — actually, I was told this when still doing low 6-figures…), a woman-hater and, my favorite, “the most obnoxious, preachy, self-bloviating info marketing chode there is.” And the list goes on. Those are just a few of my favorites. And at first it did kind of rattle me. But now? I collect & display my troll's idiotic complaints about me like scalps. Because the more I get, the more successful my business is. The less I get, the less successful my business. This is totally anecdotal, of course. And your milage may vary. But after talking to a lot of other business owners in the 7-figure realm, I have noticed it being a pattern for them, too. For some people you can do no wrong and for others you can do no right. And the latter are far louder and more vicious than the former, and if you can’t handle the thought of it, then you might want to seriously consider not doing the things you’ll have to do (all of which will put you on the “map” more, unless you happen to be a silent business partner and not the “face” of your company) in order to cross the border into that coveted Texas-sized level of income. Anyway, do what you will with this info. But as for the how-tos of getting there: I recommend Dan Kennedy’s “7-Figure Academy” It might be able to get your business to that level, and it might not. This course is not intended for newbies, amateurs, or goo-roo fanboys playing business on social media all day. Nothing I sell is. But that goes triple for this course. It’s not called “4-Figure Academy”, “5-Figure Academy”, or even “6-Figure Academy.” It’s called “7-Figure Academy” for a reason. It requires a lot of deep thinking, introspection, & hard work to implement. It’s short on checklists or tactics. And is long on strategies and big ideas. There’s a reason why Dan Kennedy is called The Millionaire Maker. And this course illustrates that reason as well as anything I’ve ever seen.
