A question about creating a charity campaign: “With the Florida hurricane disaster we just had, I was thinking of doing a charity campaign for a buddy of mine that is feeding all his neighbors that got crushed. Do you have a separate training on how to do that effectively?” The answer: I’ve done a lot of charity-type email campaigns over the years — from helping a cousin get money for eye surgery and helping a pal afford medical tests when he had a stroke at 33 years old… to raising money for dog shelters… to raising money for a ministry that rescues kids in Africa from being stolen and raped (literally — the higher ranked members get the little girls, the lower ranked members get the little boys) by warlords & terrorists… to organizations like the Innocence Project and Orrin Hudson’s “Be Someone”… to a bunch of others. Frankly, I can’t even remember them all. And I do it in a way that not only financially benefits the charity but also my own business. In my way of thinking: There is nothing wrong with helping a charity and your business simultaneously, especially if you’re using your business to give back to your community. Those non profits don’t pay for themselves, after all. And while I don’t have a product about how I raise money for non-profits with email, I do have a methodology. And that methodology is just one of many things I teach in the upcoming “King-Sized” (28 pages vs the usual 20 pages) Email Players issue along with an email example that can be easily modeled. In my experience, there are very few things you can do with your business that can: (1) help you give back to your community and those trying to do the same and… (2) create a relationship with your audience so tight you can bounce a quarter off it and… (3) help generate some sales for your own coffers… … than helping a charity the way I explain starting on page 24. And if you do it the way I show inside, I believe your list will almost certainly love participating, the organization you help will almost certainly love getting donations they never would have gotten otherwise, and you will almost certainly enjoy the way it can help you bond with your list that just lobbing blatant pitches or free content at them all day can’t touch with a 1,000 foot cattle prod. Best part: Chances are none of your competition are doing this sort of thing. They may send “good thoughts” or “love & light” or whatever. But you will actually be “doing” something about it, which is just another way to stand out from the empty-promise virtue signalers while potentially making your list and customers very happy indeed.
