A few years ago I studied a Dan Kennedy training about creative thinking. And ironically the most valuable part of the entire course for me has literally nothing to do with creativity or being more creative or marketing or selling or any of the usual suspects. No, it was a part where he was talking about the healthcare system. Specifically, in the US, where he predicted: “…there will be some version of nationalized health that probably looks something like the Canadian system that everybody gets...And it’ll be like getting your heart surgery done at the post office or the DMV and obviously people like you and I will want nothing to do with it.” He then followed up with this kicker: “It’s another very good argument for making sure you get rich, because failing to do so probably destines you to having the postal worker taking off your bunions after you’ve waited three months for an appointment. I mean that’s where were headed.” Anyway, that was recorded many years ago. But I suspect he’s right. The liberals’re already getting their way. Like what recently happened to that veteran in Can-an-a-da who merely asked for a wheelchair lift and was offered assisted suicide in response. And as this sort of thing becomes more accepted as the “new normal”, an entire cottage industry (and opportunity) will pop up for doctors, surgeons, hospitals, and other healthcare providers that will be priced to the hilt, with far better bedside care & services, with far less deaths or botched procedures, and financially well out of reach of anyone but those who make — at the bare minimum — upper 6-figures per year, if not 7-figures per year. And these rich patients'll get the same kind of treatment our politicians get. Now, there are two types of people reading this: 1. People who see Mr. Kennedy's prediction is coming true in real time 2. People with their heads up their arses believing whatever the corporate media tells them My ex-spurt opinion? I think it could eventually get horrifying on all kinds of levels, in all kinds of ways. Especially for small, independent business owners. The point of all this: While there isn’t a whole lot of control any one of us has over the political, ideological, and ever-shifting world-wide forces raging on a national and international scale, one thing we can control is working at growing as secure and profitable a business as possible. And, as bad as I suspect it’ll be for businesses who can’t afford to line the right pockets... I still believe commerce will be around, and that learning how to sell, market, grow a business, and create as much financial security as you can — before any more big, sweeping changes happen — is vital if you want to have as smooth a landing as possible. At the very least make your money now, before the inevitable tax hikes happen. However, let’s face it: Very few people have any sense of urgency, much less emergency. Even now, as they cheer on their rights being systematically dismantled one-by-one. This of course includes people decrying capitalism on their $800 iPhones who have full bellies with plenty of entertainment to distract them, and with all the time in the world to virtue signal about their pet causes on social media. Anyway, I don’t pretend to have all the answers or solutions to this. But each month in Email Players I do my part. And this is especially true of the upcoming “King-Sized” (28 pages vs the usual 20 pages) January issue — which is all about a powerful way to profit off of harsh economic times used by arguably the most influential man of the 20th century to grow his own empire — so that your business doesn’t flail and wither away, but can instead grow and prosper the worse and more “f’d” up things get, with a customer base that is potentially far more rabid about listening to you, buying from you, and following you the farther the rest of the world sinks into despair. It’s not about milking money from misery. It’s about “transmuting” that misery into joy and peace of mind. Both for you and your customers/clients. But I have got to warn you: This one is not really a “how to” issue, as much as a “what to do” issue that requires thinking, introspection, and individual adaption to your specific business, situation, and market. I cannot do those things for you, any more than I can wipe your nose for you. Let the goo-roo fanboys take note. They will be especially disappointed by the almost “Pollyanna-ish” info inside that, I believe, can potentially blast a smart business owner’s sales & influence not just to the next level, but another 5 or 6 levels above that, even as the rest of the marketing world proceeds to keep doing what they’ve been doing, getting the same poor results they’ve been getting, while constantly chasing the same nonsensical bright shiny objects they’ve been chasing. All right, that’s that. If you want to subscribe to Email Players the deadline is right around the corner.
