One movie I have long advocated anyone who has anything to do with marketing — especially email marketing — is the 2000 movie: “The Tao of Steve” Specifically the first half which is almost like a seminar in marketing. The second half is just single wine aunt fan fiction. But the movie is about a fat, underachieving, slob-like guy who shouldn’t be able to pull lots of chicks, but does anyway. His secret? What he calls “being a Steve.” "Steve" being Steve McQueen. i.e., The King of Cool. As Dex (the fat guy) puts it: “…it’s a state of mind. . .Y’know, [Steve’s] the guy on his horse, the guy alone. He has his own code of honor, his own code of ethics, his own rules of living, man. He never, ever tries to impress the women but he always gets the girl.” Swap out “living” with “selling”, “women” with “customers” and “girl” with “sale” and proceed likewise in your business. If this is a bit too esoteric, just put it on the shelf. But in some ways this is the key to entire game. Especially if you sell — or want to sell — expensive offers that go for 100s, 1000s, even tens of 1000’s a pop in your business. And the irony is it’s not something you do as a “tactic,” but as an ethic. I’ve been using this particular knowledge since around 2012. (When I first used it to start selling higher ticket offers) And nowadays I apply this info automatically. Where it’s like driving a car — I just… do. The result? Selling offers for 5, 10, even 20x what others in my niche do.
