Attack of the low IQ’s

An email reply guy once thought he let me have it before scurrying off: === Before I unsubscribe Ben. Let me tell you a couple of things. First of all, stop writing in this font and switch to... This font. You see the difference! good thing, you agree. Let's move on to thing number 2-- most of your emails are like sell. sell.. sell... And they all start with some story and a little mambo jumbo and all of a sudden you floor that sell pitch. I hate it. I hate it point-blank. Thing number 3-- stop slinging mud at others Thing 4-- write in a simple understandable english === I admit: While I have never put much stock in the whole purposely dumbing-down emails for the sake of it shtick… just for shyts & giggles I ran that email he was responding to through Flesch-Kincaid. The result? The email he was responding to reads at an 8th grade level. One other test showed it at 5th grade. If someone in business can't read at those levels, I don't know what to tell 'em. I certainly can't add anything to their lives. So it's good he waddled off my list. Point of all this: I used to assume lollipops like the above are just trolls desperate to be relevant. But now I also think it’s just a low IQ thing. They simply aren't capable of thinking any deeper than regurgitating a sound byte from a book they read, or on a blog they like, or a social media post from someone they admire all out of context. In fact, one book I highly recommend to people in business & marketing — and especially copywriting — is called “The Curse of the High IQ” by Aaron Clarey. Here are a few reasons why: * If you have a higher than average IQ, it might make sense of a lot of the self-sabotaging decisions and blind devotion to obvious propaganda & entertainment you see from average or low IQ people. * If you have an average IQ, you will understand some of the contempt (private or transparent) a lot of higher IQ people have both for you & the backasswards systems in society designed specifically to cater to you, that make no sense to someone with a higher IQ, and often slow their lives down to a crawl. * If you have a low IQ, it will likely either prompt a wall-of-text 1-star review about how mean, arrogant, and “whiney” the book is… or else do the exact opposite and inspire you to start making better decisions. On a practical level: It makes sense of all the copywriters who can't make a move without a swipe or checklist. Or people who can't follow even the most basic of instructions for opting out of an email list (literally clicking a link) and so shriek at you to do it for them. Not to mention cat videos & food pics being far more engaged with & valued over substance these days. It's simply because most people can't think much higher than Homer Simpson level. There is a place for those types somewhere. Especially Facebook which is (literally) made for them. But it ain't here. And it sure as hades ain't in Email Players.
